Jetblue is looking to become the worst airline in the US.

They claim that this acquisition will give customers the most legroom in coach. Do they plan on renovating all the Spirit planes, the ones that aren't broken down.

Earlier this year, Spirit Air announced a proposed merger with Frontier Air. More recently, JetBlue has announced a proposed merger with Spirit. Apparently, antitrust issues have been raised by several parties. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Air Force Logistics veteran here... Airplanes, even civilian ones are designed to be very modular. Meaning very adaptable. That carpet you see is really an aluminum pallet locked into the cargo deck. It's easy to remove a couple seats from each isle and then slide back each seat an inch or so. Kind of like how you lift the bar in your car and slide back a click or two.

Removing all the seats from a 747 and reloading it entirely with cargo pallets was a couple hour job for a good line crew. I've done it several times many years ago.

No one outside of JetBlue's corporate inner circle knows for sure exactly what JetBlue is planning, but becoming Spirit is not it. The only reason that JetBlue is interested in Spirit is that it doesn't want a Frontier-Spirit merger, which JetBlue sees as a major threat.
