I went to the Sportsmens around 630-7pm tonight to watch UFC fights, when I walked to the bar I had my mask down below my mouth -one of the younger security guards said you have to wear it fully covering your face when you are ordering a drink at the bar. Ok, no problem, ( I never had an issue before) then I sat down at a table took it off and started drinking my beer, then another security guard said it’s ok to take it down to drink but it needs to be worn regularly except you can pull it all the way down to your chin-you can’t take it all the way off. From what I was told the police came in around an hour before I got there and laid down the law about masks. From what I was also told (maybe rumors) but two girls were fighting with knives outside Taormina the other night which caused a scene. Then I heard (just telling you what I heard) that someone fired a gunshot at Taormina last night. So I guess because of Taormina, the police are rousting the “other local hangouts” too. Just passing on the info. I also heard curfew is going back to 9pm either this week or next.
Edit...it looks like the driving restrictions will start at 9pm but places can still stay open until 11pm

There were six chicas involved in the street fight, but they did not all pull knives. One knife was more like a butcher's knife than a pocket knife. There were also a few bystanders. It occurred on calle 3a about 50 meters from the employee entrance. You would be surprised at the weaponry some of these girls carry in their purses. The Taormina has no where near the security protocols of the SL.

Newbies to overseas mongering should invest in an orientation tour from Pops. He is a retired cop with more than decade of experience on the streets of San Jose. His advice will not guarantee your security, but it can give you an edge.

Thanks Boynton...I’ve used Pop’s before...great guy...really knows his stuff. I also heard Taormina is only allowing around 15 chicas in total now. I stopped in a few times the last few weekends...it was like the Wild West in there. A LOT of people in there..but a little too noisy and crowded. You get a mix of Ticos and Gringos up to shenanigans plus Regatone, Rap, Rock, etc..music blasting and then the chicas who are all about quantity, no quality (clock watchers from what I’ve been told). Don’t get me wrong...I like to stop in and look at the beauties but I don’t pull any chicas from there.
