Are working girls available in the flamingo beach area. Is there much of a nightlife there. Whats the beach like, volcanic or white sand. How far is it from San Jose. TIA Raw

There are some, but few girls available. Check out a place called "Amberes" (I think that was the name of it) when you get there. DON'T expect the Del Rey quantity at all. It's a decent size bar/beer garden/dance club that gets going late at night.

When I was there a few years ago it had some local and a few working girls hanging out and more were coming in as it got later. I only stayed until 10 - 11 PM because the power in the bar and in the town kept going on and off. Yep, the whole friggin town....lol...well at least the part of the Potrero that I could see. I just sat there looking down on the whole expanse of Potrero and watched the lights flicker on and off. I kept think a rodent must have been nibbling on a cable somewhere.

Amberes is located up the hill on the cliff overlooking flamingo marina just as you come across the bridge into the flamingo beach area. The hill/cliff area has a bank, convenient store, Italian restaurant, Amberes and some other businesses right there. Also, condos and Flamingo Marina Resort right there too. The hill/cliff area separates two different beach areas.

One beach is Potrero and the other is Flamingo beach. Flamingo is considered nicer and you can easily walk back and forth through the town to either beach. I am fairly certain the sand was white. Flamingo has a few resorts and other hotels going up and down it's road. Potrero beach side also contains a beach and the Marina where you can find fishing boats. Potrero beach is very long but doesn't get much action as far as visitors.

I stayed at a nice little hotel called the "Mariner Inn" (not to be confused with the Marina Inn Resort which is only a block away) right around the corner from Amberes and in between the 2 beaches. For $29 bucks per night plus additional 5 bucks for taxes I thought the place was great. I can't remember the name of the owner but he was a cool guy who was retired from Canada. Other gringos hang out at the outdoor bar area as well. Only problem is the Mariner Inn didn't have phones in the room or shampoo, but there was a computer with internet connection at the bar and also a phone too.

The place is MUCH slower paced than San Jose and it's probably better to bring a chica than to take chances on local chicas as there just aren't as many women around. The ride I think is about 4-5 hours if you take the tourist vans that run the ciruit on the coasts. ...could easily get longer if traffic backs up for any reason. My return trip was 6 hours.

Hopefully this helps a bit, the information is dated back from about 2 or 3 years ago so things may have changed.
