I ran across this article in QCostaRica which states that 380 taxistas in Heredia signed onto the Beego platform that has a total of 700 drivers. Beego is supposed to match the closest driver (taxi or indy) to the rider.
https://qcostarica.com/taxistas-abandon ... -platform/I have not used the service yet, but I did download the app (iOS). Here is what I have found so far ...
1. From the listing on the Apple store, Beego appears to be a Costa Rica only application. The description was a mix of English and Spanish and the Developer Website link wasn't working.
2. You select a car type, Economy (4 riders) or XL (6 riders) oddly the base rate for the XL was quoted less than the economy 1150crc versus 1350crc.
3. You authenticate a phone, same as Uber/DiDi.
4. I got a quote for my apartment to the Walmart Tibas using Uber 1000crc, DiDi 1167crc, Beego 1434crc. This was around 11:30 on a Saturday night.
5. Beego only takes cash. No credit card or paypal option. The app store description did say it would use a credit card if you add it to the wallet in the phone.
The article states that Beego has been in CR since 2018, though this is the first I've heard of it. At first glance, it lags behind Uber, DiDi, and inDriver EXCEPT for the Taxista involvement. I wonder if it will try for or get official government and taxi union backing. But for now, MeeNoGo Beego!
Thanks for the info was about to post a question regarding Beego, no credit card is a no go for me, DiDi and InDriver are owned by China and Russia according to google . So Uber it is for me.
