Had my first trip back to CR since July 2017. I haven't really been paying attention to stuff going on there but imagine my surprise when I walked down the calle and saw Zona II was no longer open. I was there after Jimmy left. I always had a good time there and the happy hour was good. I wasn't impressed at all with the Hotel Little Havana this time, it has gone down hill in my opinion. So what happened? Is it closed forever? It was one of my main stops, I was definitely bummed to see it closed.

Glad someone else noticed.

Back in March of 2018 Zona II bought the HLH next door and knocked the wall down between them. Back to like it was in the days of Boyd. They immediately started using the HLH bar and started the slow shut down of the Zona II side. I think they tried to turn it into a hostel or something. Super awkward passing a family of four with small Ch*ldren in the hallway. Finally here in the last 3-4 months they stopped renting those Zona side rooms altogether. I have asked if they have any intention of renovating them and reopening and I have not heard that to be the plan. I get that the HLH side is newer. The renovation it went through with both the bar and the rooms when it was Scores is really nice. But those Zona rooms have always been my favorite in town.
I will be back next month so I will walk through and check it out, but staying somewhere else. I have had some great times at that bar if it just had more traffic coming through it could really be something.

If anyone involved with it is reading we would love to know if there is a plan. I know I am not alone in thinking that the closing of Billy G room is a tragedy.

Thanks for the response. Zona II was a daily stop of mine. I used to love how all the girls would “introduce” themselves when you would walk in. There were always some good looking girls there. Like I said-IMO the quality of chicas I saw in HLH was down. Hopefully something picks up the void left by Zona II

Zona Blue ruined their vibe when they expanded and built the big bar, but at least it was a nice bar. Then they built some nice hotel rooms on top of the massage rooms. Then the management went to shit, it split, became two disasters instead of one and now what's left is the "renovated" and now unforgiveably ugly bar with tacky decorations, bad light, ugly chicas and high prices. I have rarely seen a business so systematically ruined and still keep its doors open.

Many of the chicas who now charge cien started there, including over priced 6 pack Sammy. She was turning tricks there for 20 bucks before the cien boys got to her. It used to be a good place and often packed daily. Still worth a stop for a beer.

Both HLH and Zona2 are not advertising on CRT any more.

I was there last night. A couple of big ones and the bartender. The place has changed and it's just a matter of time..........

It is (HLH) a very nice bar...and while it may become a Tico place it could be a good business. It is a lot nicer than most or any of the other local bars in the area. Might not appeal to gringos...but that doesn't mean its on its way out.

I was there a few times last week. It is worth a visit. Like any venue the lineup varies. Couple times I only talked with Kimberly – one of my favorite bartenders. I also found a couple young cute ones that were good in the room.

My last day there was nothing that fit my taste when I walked in at Monicas but I was perfectly happy with my selection at HLH.

Shadowman and I popped in a couple of times last week, and it was useless. No energy, mediocre pricing, girls were not great looking (one was semi cute). A low point of my 15 years of going to the place (in many of its incarnations).

Don’t want to sound like a pessimist, but you are right on the button. No energy! Let’s see what the next incarnation brings.

While we're on the subject, used to be a bartender named Sayuri(?). Anyone know whatever happened to her?

She was just over in France for a little while. She is taking a break from working at the moment.
