ROFL. The ability to read a title and the decontexualzed use of google scholar is a dangerous tool for the know-it-all.

It it is funny how others give you a little playful shit back, and your response you call them out as being angry. Others were teasing you on your proclivity toward coming across as the world's leader in all.[/quote]

Ok, if "playful sh*t" is all it is, then I over reacted, and stand corrected, but there ARE a lot of angry people on CRT, many people who used to be prolific contributors stopped writing they got so fed up.

Ladiablo seems to delight in stalking me on different multiple posts and on other posts has attacked me viciously, prior to that I've been nothing but nice to him, but in a previous post I delivered a well deserved admonishment, you just got in the middle, probably innocently, and my irritation was high.

I basically joined CRT to make friends and make jokes, not get into arguments, and if anyone researched my posts, you'll find I never start one. If I want to argue, why argue with total strangers, I just have to pick up the phone and call any number of my relatives in the states, lol.

"world's leader in all" huh? I don't even understand that, I'm just offering my opinion, based on evidence, of Costa Rica's economy.

So far no one has proffered an alternative argument, but because the results I expected haven't happened as rapidly as I anticipated, many seem to think or at least infer the CR economy is humming along fine.

If you or anyone else has evidence and facts to prove me wrong, I'm not afraid to listen, but for now, my vast fortune of millions (colones) shall continue to remain in dollars, lol.

Now as far as obsessions go, if one has a severe obsession, it can be viewed as a psychotic disorder as opposed to mere anxiety disorders.

So there...

I don't know for how long , but Panama has been using the USD for its paper currency as well. US coins are accepted & the Panamanians have the equivalent coins (1 and 5 centésimos, 1⁄10, 1⁄4, 1⁄2, and 1 balboas (from google)) that are used as well.

The only reason I am posting this is because as much research as I did on CRT & ISG prior to my first trip to PAN, it was never mentioned.

I found this Wall Street article which sums the situation up pretty succinctly.

So,
I'm hearing thru the coconut telegraph that a VAT tax will be added to house rentals, this will have to be paid to the owner. The cutoff is approx. $1149.00, on monthly rent, you will be assessed an additional 13% on top.
About an extra $150.00 on top of rent. If any of you pay more than that get your checkbook out.

PS what the current exchange rate ? :? :o

Thought all the financial experts were saying that the CR economy would collapse and the colone would be at 800 now.

They keep spending dramatically more than they take in and miraculously keep borrowing and avoiding paying the piper, it's a simple formula, you don't have to be an international finance manager to get it, spend more...borrow more...they ain't the USA who can get away with it,,,by the way, our time is coming too, just much later...
