I have always stayed at Vista Mar/Cocal . Right on top of the action at the Frog Bar so easy access in and out. I did stay at Croc's once and it is a beautiful property with great pool and if you gamble the casino is nice. Only one registered guest allowed for the ladies or a 10-$20 handshake usually gets them to agree the next girl is the same girl you originally registered. I understand there are some other locations with friendly visitor policies but Vista Mar and Cocal are tough to beat for location to the ladies but also centrally located in Jaco, easy to walk to downtown bars and restaurants. Concierge service and VIP Jaco group at the Cocal and Vista Mar is great for planning excursions, renting cars etc.. Restaurant at Cocal is surprisingly good if you just want to stay on property and breakfast is included.

Just returned from Jaco Wednesday. The properties associated with Cocal do seem like the best option at present. The Cocal hotel itself has standard hotel rooms. Vista Mar is the high-rise condo right behind Cocal with 3-bedroom condos.

I previously always stayed at Mango Mar next door. It was recently bought by Cocal and is currently closed. The Cocal desk told me they were being converted into 2-bedroom suites. I would be surprised if done by September.

Cocal also purchased a 6 unit building across the small road to the South. Seem to be currently in use, but I don’t have any details on the units.

A warning about the Cocal website. They list the room types with “Make a Reservation” next to each type. Clicking these leads to the site that only makes reservations for the Vista Mar condos. Using this page to check your dates can lead you to think only condos are available. If you want a hotel room you have to call or email Cocal.

I'm staying at The Palms condos this week and the hotel contacted me for name and passport info for the people in my party, so thry could give that info to security. The only people in my party will be me and a chica or two. Will they just let me bring a guest in or will I register them as we come and go? TYIA!
