Hello all,

I currently live and work in thailand but am close to retirement. I am thinking of a walk about in central and South America. The purpose would be to compare my lifestyle with Thailand. I am an American and while I have no desire to live in the US again I do still have friends there that would make living south of the border attractive. Have been to San Jose many times, loved the chicas hated the town. Any suggestions of alternatives and has the internet changed the game? Can you live in a non monger in area and still use the internet for fun. When I retire in the next few months thinking of doing Columbia, Panama, Costa Rica coast, and whatever. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Need a lifestyle cost of living similar to Thailand.

Thanks all!

I would check out certain areas of Mexico (eg Quintana Roo, Yucutan), Costa Rica (eg Perez Zeledon, Alajuela & Heredia provinces north of San Jose), Panama (Balboa, Paraiso, Boquete), Colombia (El Oriente, Paipa, Villaleyva, Coffee Axis (Salento, Armenia), Santa Marta (if you like the coast), Ecuador (Cuenca, Otovalo, Cotacachi), Brazil (Rio Grande do Sur province), Uruguay (Punta del Este, Montevideo, Colonia del Sacramento), Paraguay (southern half interior), Argentina (Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, Bariloche), Chile (Valdivia, Maipo Valley, Vina del Mar, Valparaiso), Peru (Miraflores, San Isidro in Lima).

I bit expensive but the place looks like Europe and so do the women. Try the Recoleta or Palermo neighborhoods of Buenos Aires.
