Since returning from my first CR trip in June, I have been in email contact with a cute BM tica. Always just email. We've exchanged about 3-4 emails. It's usually just "hey, how are you?" "what are you up to?" "when are you coming back to CR?" This is the chica that was dancing and signing on top of me to Shakira's La Tortura. Dammit, I just got the goosebumps again...

But today I received this (without any punctuation of course, so takes some skill to decipher it)...

I'm pretty sure about what's coming next, the only question is how much she will request? Feel free to throw out some guesses... Are there any of you that actually believe it will be anything other than a RFM (request for money)?

Should I actually call her? I think i want to call just in case anything is wrong. But if that's the case, what can I do to help besides sending money? And this is precisely what I DON'T want to do. I will probably call her tomorrow just out of curiousity.

I predict $300 that is what I think many have come up with as their magic #. They seem to like 3 to 4 emails before they pop the questions.

I was their in June also & you know where the Chicas eat cheep at Key Largo by the 2 pool tables there was a meeting of Colombianas & guess what that little old meeting was about? Yes they had a standard Chica in distress letter worked up & guess who translated it. No not little old me it was the the guy cooking the food for them that works at Key Largo.

They brought me the letter & had me proof read it & I wanted to throw a monkey wrench in it but thought that might cost me the trust they have in me. What a crock of shit!!!!!!!!!! It was like the many we have seen here but look how they group together on this. 99.9% of the time for me NO & NEXT are your best answers.

So I read an SJ tip on a previous post that has helped me in my gringo life pertaining to the homeless that plead their plight on the downtown streets of my city, and that is to pre-empt thier RFM and mess with them by asking them for money first... why not apply the same tactic to a tica in distress.. call her up, exchange pleasantries, and before she can launch into her tale of woe... tell her your ISP payment is overdue and you need to borrow 50 bucks to pay it or you won't be able to exchange e-mails with her anymore, and it would break your heart to not be able to write her everyday... some faux teary quivering voice would be a nice touch.... now wouldn't that blow her mind..... or hell.....ask her for a cool cien and tell her you have to buy your wife a birthday gift...


I say $301 (price is right strategy).....Odds are she's working 3-4 other guys and you are due for a wallet probing, probably won't ask for much at first, will probably want to see if you are a sucker- er i mean a caring sympathetic novio.

Anybody know any good places to sleep in the park that I can recommend to her, in case she's past due on her rent.

Taxi driver robbed her but she couldn't get his name or ID number and the police wouldn't believe her or be able to find him anyway, and now her period just started and so she can't work for five days and the rent is overdue and she had to send all her savings to her mother to pay for doctor and medicine for sick offspring, need $300.00 immediately. Next request will go to $600.00 if you send the $300.00.

b. Same circumstance except taxi driver had a wreck and she damaged her arm/leg/head, and can't work for a month and taxi drivers don't have insurance and can't be located after an accident and no one has liability for injuries or damages in an accident in Costa Rica, that is unless the driver is a gringo such as you, then you will owe millions, standard list of money needs follows, similar amounts requested.

d. For some reason DR/BM/KL, etc chicas are not eligible for the free or inexpensive health care available in Costa Rica to everyone else, they are required to go to private clinics and pay US prices for treatment.

I can sympathize with you, been there done that. Three years ago!

I have been communicating via email with someone I met in July. I am waiting for my RFM anyday now as the money I gave her while I was there has probably run out. I hate to be cynical but I am realistic. I have booked another trip already and hope the RFM does not come.

Now where is that hotel on the beach with the two bedrooms? Oh I agreed to take her and her ninas con sus hermana to the beach. Yep, go ahead start flaming! I deserve it!
