Comtemplating booking them here. I know awhile back there was posting on this hotel a bit mixed I recall. Trying to search them out....no luck.
Appreciate your thoughts.
Thank you

Twarag,

It's a nice place, reasonably priced. The staff is excellent. No "chica fee". A breakfast of fruit, hard boiled eggs, gallo pinto, toast and coffee is included in the rate. Many of the guests, like myself, stay for a month or more. This is now my "Costa Rica" home when I visit. Call Darren, the manager, for a good rate.

The negative reports that I have seen have been mostly by first time visitors to this site with few other posts. I think part of the problem is expecting too much from a bargain priced hotel. The biggest complaints are the thin walls/noise factor and poor bathroom lighting (if you can believe that). The big plus is the 15% discount if you pay in cash and the 20% discount if you stay for a full week or longer

Twarag,

I stayed there the last trip and I liked it just fine.
I would get the new rooms in the back on the ground floor ( w/ kitchens)
I think they are 14 thru 20 ???
or the rooms just above them. ( 2nd. floor) no kithens but good view.
The breakfast is just OK.
Good location. between Sportsmans lodge and New Fantasy.

My experience there was very positive. Room was comfortable and I thought a good value, breakfast was fair and laundry service was just a small tip away.
Location is very good, quiet neighborhood, near NF and ZB and Sportmens is just around the corner.

I was also considering this hotel. FYI...here's a web site on the hotel.

It looks to be the exact same content as the crtimes site except for a more recent copyright but the direct link for the hotel website is actually http://www.hotelcastillo.biz just in case they make any changes they forget to post. The Costa Rica Times is the same site that currently lists the Bella Mansion as a place to find "questionable women for various activities" and so doesn't inspire me with a lot of confidence as being the most up to date.
