Right. Recently, a friend of nearly 8 years, Evelyn hit me up for $500.00. As she and I have done this before, I know I can count on her repayment of the $500.00 with service and company. She's a stunning f*ck, BTW and until the birth of her boy, a triathlete. Classy too...and when she says, "I will gladly repay you your next trip for a loan today," I can trust her to keep her word.

Another old friend about whom I have written, Marisol recently lost her novia of 7 years to a heart attack. Same thing... I covered her rent and light bills...she will repay me probably double the next time we meet.

As far as Ingrid and Treysi go, I have done all I can. Having visited the former in Nicaragua last September, and having gone with Treysi to her oncologist appointments, I know that neither woman has been scamming... but here's where the warning, "you can't support them for life" comes into play.

A reply above talked about rich boys, the U.S.-C.R. money pipeline, yachts at Los Sueños. I assure yo8u sir, that type is in the minority. Most girls will never even meet the Daddy Bigbucks type, and if they do, they are likely to be hired at top dollar and little more... most rich guys have gotten rich not by being lavishly generous with girlfriends. And as my Daddy once said, "No man has ever lost a woman by chasing money, but many men lose their money chasing women." I think that applies here too.

Nowadays, I politely and a bit sadly, refuse financial help. I pay a good salary, I am a gentleman with all my amigas, I speak decent Spanish and treat them as dear friends. But when she's on the way out to her taxi, the financial relationship ends.

Another problem I now have is this: The story of how I have helped certain playmates has circulated throughout the SL. Seems every woman working there has heard about my generosity. I can barely stay there anymore; the pleas and petitions, many from women I don't even know, have become oppressive. Yes, it's my own fault, and I own that. It does put me in an uncomfortable position however. I now have to choose between ending my relationship with the Sportsmen's and stay elsewhere where I am less known, or become a cold, unfriendly bastard toward the working girls. I don't really want to do either. I prefer the Sportsmen's over any other hotel I've stayed at (although I'm very tempted to try the renovated Hotel Castillo). My wife even suggested that I switch venues completely and do my hobbying in Medellin instead.

Do you have a separate fb account entirely for that? I want to do that, but facebook asks you for a unique phone number it seems, to open an fb account these days.

If one has a CR phone (with a CR number or ditto a Colombian phone) it's no issue.

You don't have to be cold and heartless. Just say to them in the most sweet and sincere voice you can and say: "I wish I could help you too, but right now all my money is going to Maria/Carmen/Alicia...she just lost her husband and her mamacita is in the hospital, I'm paying for that, too, but if you want to give me an hour, I can pay $20,000 colones, that's all I got left...

You'll either get rid of the pest or she'll do you for 20k...

Sheer genius! :!:  However, I have heard this rebuttal several times...something like, "You can pay to fly here and stay in a nice hotel. You are a rich gringo...how can you be so pinche, so frio...to not help me in my dire hour of need." And sometimes, their need is very real and very urgent (run with that, funnty guys...) I plan to return in either early October - late September, or I'll wait until after the Halloween fiestas have happened and almost forgotten. :P  :D But I'll probably stay at the SL, unless someone has a better idea. Hotel Asia? Nuevo Johnson? Maruecos?

You can say...I put airfare and hotel cost on credit card and only pay $10 a month...we Americans only LOOK rich, we're hopelessly in debt for life...AND...you'll be telling the truth......

After 14 years of serious Latin American mongering I finally got my first rfm last month. A veritable mongering rite of passage that took a very long time to happen to me. It came from a little sweetie I met @ the SL in July. She desperately needed $100 to pay rent, business was slow she said to me via WhatsApp.. I simply told her that I cannot help her at this time but looked forward to renewing our sexual relationship on my next visit. Ok, thanks was her reply. Hope she's still around next month so I can give her another $72 for services rendered!

I don't think I'd send money in response to a request. Hopefully I won't get any. :P

As I indicated, I'm done sending money. Thankfully I learned my lesson without losing a lot of money. That said, I don't remember being asked for money so many times, and this wasn't done just by the putas. It got really annoying. I think the economic downturn and the huge influx of Nicas, Venezuelans has contributed to a deteriorating mood there in Costa Rica. It doesn't make me want to return there anytime soon.

I have my eyes on Medellin.

I’m all over the Medellin idea. I think as soon as I land my next permanent job I will tell them I need two weeks to “take care of things first”, and then I’ll book the first flight there and probably play it safe and stay atLa mansion for my first trip.

Its a puta thing not limited to Costa Rica. They do the same in Colombia, first hand knowledge, and hear that Filipinas are good at it too. Medellin reasons same but also include that a family member or they themselves owe money to or pissed off a local mobster and need money to get out of trouble with them.Best not to believe any hardship stories, keep your distance and never send. No such thing as once...
