I'm planning on coming back sometime around 9/20. I noticed the SL is heavily booked, this is to bad because I was looking forward to trying one of the rooms in back of the mansion wing. Anyhow, I want to take a little jump over to Colombia Cartignia And Medellin. I no zero about where to stay in these places In Cartignia im just gonna stay near Clock Tower and on the beach, in Medellin I'm gonna do a helicopter tour and Paint Ball at Pablo Esccobar's house.

What I really need is suggestions on where to stay for two nights in each one of these cities, preferably something similar to SL.

No advice on Colombia but try Castillo penthouses instead of SL mansion wings. You can pull from anywhere and bring to Castillo. Interesting jump to go from SL to Colombia due to one hotel. I will be at Castillo 20-23 sept

Just a heads up if you plan on entering Costa Rica and you are leaving Colombia you are going to need a Yellow Fever shot with documentation that it was administered longer than 10 days prior to arrival in Costa Rica. For whatever reason this only applies to US travelers and not to Costa Rican nationals (someone was brilliant for that exclusion).

Probably because gringos don't routinely get yellow fever immunizations and Ticos do.

It's actually very difficult to get a US doctor or agency to vaccinate for yellow fever.

The Colombiana that I know is a naturalized Tica and she has never had a yellow fever vaccination, yet travels back and forth somewhat frequently. She told me she has never been asked about it and was surprised when I told her I needed to make sure I had my card with my passport when we left Colombia. I was asked to provide my vaccination card though which I had put in my back pocket just to see if they would ask about it.

I live in a smaller sized city and was able to get my yellow fever shot at a local clinic with no problem. I did call ahead though to make sure they had it and I was told they usually keep 10 shots on hand. It did cost me $98.00 for the vaccination though. I also did the Hep A & B along with TDAP as well which were all covered under my insurance at the time. The Hep A&B was a 2 visit injection and my insurance was billed 210.00 for those and 15.00 for the TDAP.

I'm not going to Colombia because of SL. I'm going to Colombia because I sold my house and a boat load of money and I'm bored and I think playing paintball at Escobar's house will be awesome, and I love girls with long black hair and brown eyes. I just don't want to stay somewhere that doesn't allow guests.

I was going to go to CR then Colombia. The Navy made sure that I got my Yellow fever vaccination every time I went to PI or Japan. but I don't know if that counts. And trust me you that shot sucks. I was sick for e week every time.

I really liked SL when i stayed there. but they appear very booked. whats the deal with Castillo?

Not sure by what you mean by "what's the deal at the Castillo?"

Great place, good food, good bar. Chica friendly. All-inclusive includes food (order from menu), well drinks, beer and soda (premium 50% off), plus free laundry - and if you stay 4 days, free ride to Jaco.

And if you are staying at the Castillo you can also eat and drink at La Amistad.

The all-inclusive is worth it if you eat one lunch or dinner a day and have one drink.

Pregame your drink on!

Getting a yellow fever shot in the US was easy for me, but I live in a major city.

Travelled between CR and Colombia three times this year, returning twice from MDE and once from CTG. Immigration at SJO has never even looked at it, even though it was tucked into the back of my passport.

I think if you start your trip in Costa Rica and then go straight back to the US from Colombia you will not need to get a yellow fever shot. The US does not require you to have had a shot when coming back from Colombia.
