I usually monger in Canada, wanted to try something different this year. This would be my first visit, I am working with a travel agent. Travel to CR would be second week of Dec 2018, Does town of Santa Ana also cater to Ticas? I am currently reading up as many of the forums on this section and learning ALOT.

It is unclear what you are asking.

A Tica is Costa Rican slang for a female Costa Rican. Any female native of Costa Rica. Male natives of Costa Rica are Ticos. "Chica" is Spanish for "girl". "Puta" is Spanish for whore and is usually an insult (even to a working girl who is one). Ticos say 'scort (short for escort); wila; guila; and 'dama de compania'.

Are you talking about whether or not there are any working girls in the town of Santa Ana, 16.9 kilometers west of downtown San Jose?

Short answer is that you are probably going to have to take the ride into San Jose and seek them out there (even ones that live in Santa Ana).

There's basically two types of places to find working girls in Costa Rica (other than online).

The first is certain hotel bars - Sportsmens Lodge (SL); Hotel del Rey (HDR); Hotel Little Havana (HLH); Hotel Taormina in San Jose; the Cocal bar in Jaco to name some). You meet girls there and take them to a hotel (yours or a 'motel' which is Tico for a short-time hotel).

The second is in "massage parlors" (also called salas or pensions) like Zona II (which has a bar also); Monica's; Relax; etc. There are lots of Tico (catering to Costa Ricans) massage parlors - some require a monger to be adventurous. These have rooms. The girls are independent.

Any working girl you connect with in San Jose at the SL, etc. is not going to be crazy about going out to Santa Ana unless she lives out there and you are here last customer. It's going to take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes (or more). She's going to want more money and taxi fare.

The same with the ******* that advertise online (cr(dot)skokka(dot)com for instance). A search under Santa Ana turns up one - a gay escort.

And then there is the question of the hotel you are staying at. Most Costa Rican hotels have security and control non-registered guests (you can't just stroll in with a girl and take her to your room).

That's why we talk about 'chica friendly' hotels. Some have no chica fee but have controlled entry lists (SL). Some just take the girl's ID (La Amistad, Castillo, HLH and Taormina). Others charge a fee (from $11 at the HDR to a reported $100 at the downtown Holiday Inn Aurola). Some hotels allow no one except registered guests.

So you could take taxis / Uber / the bus from Santa Ana to central San Jose, find a girl at the SL or wherever and take her to a short-time motel.

Or take her back to your hotel (if they allow guests) and pay the 'distance tax'.

Or just go to MPs.

Or stay in centro (the "Gulch") in a chica-friendly hotel.

Tell the travel agent thanks but no thanks, sounds like he/she is trying for some reason to steer you to Santa Ana, a boring upscale residential area, if you're using a taxi or uber, it's a long expensive ride to where the fun is. :x

Unless you have business and a rent a car there, and for some reason it's important for you to be there, don't go there if you want to monger.

You don't need a travel agent to come monger. Pick one of the hotels MM3 suggested and come on down.

Sportsmen's Lodge, an excellent choice, a classy place in a quiet neighborhood in the north end of Gringo Gulch, it's a favorite here, great bar food, friendly staff, lots of girls hang around the bar.

if you're not adventurous regarding getting food, La Amistad had a food/room deal that is good, a stones throw from SL, a great massage girl (real non sex massage) named Hazel and fabulous classy food, all you can eat, breakfast lunch and dinner.

Hotel Del Rey? You're in the belly of the beast. it's loud, raucous, controversial, some guys love it, some hate it, almost all of us still visit no matter how much they protest. It's the biggest venue here, weekend nights, over 100 girls can be available. It's not what it was in it's glory days but it's still Grand Central Station where all the action is.

The other places he mentioned are nice and right in the middle of the action as well. Unless you're wealthy and demand being in a room up really high with a view, skip Holiday Inn.

Announce your coming here on CRT about 3 days before and announce when you're coming and where you will stay and usually numerous fellow single by themselves travelers will contact you to hook up.

Also, especially Sportsmens Lodge, you will meet fellow more experienced mongers where you stay, we are a friendly bunch so you will be able to hook up and explore and make some friends.

I have made 1/2 dozen good friends here on CRT and numerous guys I still stay in touch with via fb or email I met at hotels here and we try to hook up here when we can.

I'm betting your travel agent gets a bit more green in his/her pocket to steer a naive newcomer to probably an unpopular place in Santa Ana. It's a pretty nice place to live, but I see no reason for a monger to vacation there, it's more of a family place. :?

Californianman, I am in my late 40s and was going to CR for a week of pleasure and relaxation.

Netgems and MM3. Wow, thank you for all this info. I will have to change my plans, it was supposed to be "fun" (hopefully with some local working girls) from Dec 13 through Dec 18 but looks like action is dead as no working girl will be around. I was too embarrassed to tell the travel agent that I was mongering.

What do you think about me rescheduling Dec 6 through 11 at La Amistad? If not, I will have to do more reading and probably schedule my trip for 2019.

That would be a great time. Its coming up on Christmas so everyone is working for cash for that.

I like the Castillo (I stay there so much the staff treats me like I live there). I also like La Amistad. So people don't like the train running past the Amistad early in the morning. I like the ambiance at both (and the food / booze at both, with the all inclusive - and I don't ever feel like I "have to" eat at either place).

The SL is also a good choice.

Dec 13 through Dec 18th is still not bad, and many non working girls work during that time to be able to afford Christmas. Dec 6 through Dec 11 may be slightly better.

The bad times are Dec 20 through Dec 28, Dec 23, 24, 25, 26 are really bad. Even though they are working girls, they observe Christmas and want to be with family and many live out of town so those are the bad days and they place more emphasis on Dec 24 than North Americans.

Flights are a bit pricier and more crowded then as well.

La Amistad is a wonderful place, just be aware you are paying a higher amount to enjoy the food which is part of the deal. it's a great deal as the food is spectacular, but if you have wanderlust and want to try local cuisine and explore restaurants, you're wasting money, the SL is a better choice.

If you want your stay to be truly wild n crazy, book the HDR, you'll be in the belly of the beast and girls will be around 24/7. it is loud and raucous, if you choose HDR, get 3rd floor or higher, if you choose SL, don't get a room off the bar, they're loud as well. If you hate train noise, La Amistad may not be your choice, it's right off the tracks and it occasionally sounds like a train is about to burst into your room.

I personally like the HDR, but I love being in the center of the action where you can see girls non stop 6 am to 5:59 am. The neighborhood is more shoddy and local bums agitate you but it's the most fun. More guys prefer La Amistad, SL and the other places, they are smaller, classier, quieter in a more quiet neighborhood, still only about a 10 minute walk away.

SL has a small group of girls that come to the bar and many gems can be found there, the other places you are allowed to bring girls but they don't come there to hang around and be chosen, you have to go to SL, HDR or any number of MP's (Monica's is the best).

It hardly matters. In the end, if you have a room with a bed, tv, bathroom, wi-fi, safe, any of the ones mentioned here, you will have a place to bring your chosen stank and have the time of your life, so pick one and come on down!!!

Unless Matt/Darren have changed things, the Amistad all-inclusive meal/drink deal is optional. You can also just book the room rate.

Done, flight booked Dec 4th through Dec 10th. Scheduling SL room now. What room is better, in clubhouse or room near courtyard? How do I get the discount? I don't have my CRT card yet.

$10, which is what.. 4 beers at the SL or HDR? I more than make it up in 4-5 Flora de Canas and lunch or dinner (I don't eat there every meal).

The clubhouse rooms are much quieter than the courtyard. Courtyard rooms open directly into the bar. Can be loud until about midnight when the bar usually shuts down.

CRT discount shouldn't be a problem at SL. They have added it for me at check-in before. Send them an email if you want, I'm sure they will confirm it will be fine.

Hola,
You changed your flight a bit earlier and staying at SL? Outstanding...good fun!
Any room at SL is good except Courtyard rooms for me.....I like the Clubhouse rooms. They are cheaper, I like the separate party area, and I like to open outside door and chat with chicas walking by! But I’m a hound dog! Digity Digity!

The only other good advice I can give you is to just say “no” to the first couple 30-40 year old overweight chicas that approach you and speak perfect English! And for God sake, don’t tell any chica it’s your first time in Costa Rica!

Unless you like over paying fir old fat chicas, of course?

I would walk into SL bar area from my room like I own the place and circle around twice to find the hottest skinniest bitch that you want to Phuck and offer to buy her a drink... Ignore the aggressive fugly chicas....they give up after 10 minutes like a swordfish anyway...but it’s critical you hold steady and not give in...nothing worse than seeing a 40 year old overweighted Puta undress.....so I have heard!

Best of luck!

Cali

NEVER! If I want to see fat 40 year olds undress, I'll stay home in Florida, I can get those for free, but I turn them down when I'm back there anyway...

Newbies are going to make their mistakes, but hopefully they'll learn.

I know old pros who still pick hags n hounds n hams, either they haven't learned or they like feasting on the dog pound side of town when it comes to chicas...

So you're saying it's only $10 more per day for the 3 hots option? I was unaware and that's a great deal.

Since I'm famously frugal (My ex wife claimed my fingerprints were imbedded on my coins) I always enjoyed my cheap $65 a night slice of heaven at HDR. 8)

Recently a friend visited and stayed there and I met him several times for dinner (by the way, for the outstanding cuisine, if you're not a guest, the regular menu prices are quite reasonable and well worth it).

When he told me what he was paying daily it was quite pricey for my tastes, probably not for normal people, but it was high by my cheapskate standards, and I assumed it was the meal ticket add on... :?
