This has happened to me a number of times, and it leads me to think about professional pride, as held by the working girls.

I had an engagement a few years back to play music with a fellow gringo in the SL bar. I was with a blonde dream with a smoky voice, Andrea. When I cut the session short (because I had to go down to the bar to make some noise), she was dismayed. "But you didn't even c*m!" she cried with disappointment.

I guess some sex workers view their work through a very focused and narrow angle lens. Which to me seems a bit odd. Nice, but odd somehow.

Here's a brief list of things I've done with chicas that *do not* involve sex.

1. Sorted my laundry, and Evelyn volunteered to iron my shirts, as we basked in the morning afterglow of a TLN.
2. Watched political debates; I practiced my Spanish and the lady helpfully corrected my errors in comprehension.
3. Went on a picnic with China the Nicaraguan Spinner; her brothers, sister in law and daughters took me to Parque del Este, where there are cold-water swimming pools and incredibly beautiful cyprus trees.
4. Partied, drank, smoked, danced, shot the breeze...
5. One girl, Karla from San Jose took me on a shopping trip to buy souvenirs and gifts for folks at home.
6. Mended a torn pair of jeans for me.
7. Guided me on a trip to Panama
8. Yes, even a simple massage without sex.

My point is this: Hookers are not just for sex. Oh, of course that's their first job (as they see it), but I've found a lot of quality, non-sexual enjoyment with the girls as well.

One trap we all seem to fall into is the "I must Phuck!" mindset. We're in C.R. typically on a very limited schedule with the return flight always seeming to lurk right at the edge of our awareness. As a result, we often put pressure on ourselves to be as good as we can in bed, to get as much pu*sy as possible etc. But the truth is that Costa Rica offers a lot of terrific tourist attractions and activities that exist far outside the Gulch. I think it can be really fun to hire a working girl as a tour guide and companion for day trips or short overnight trips.

While I have never sought friendship with the working girls, I have made numerous friends among them. They and I have a tacet agreement: Not everything is about business all the time, but when business is being transacted, both sides have responsibilities and expectations.

I forget where I read this here on CRT, but one brother posted that he always tells the girls, "I will never fall in love with you, so please never write to me asking for money." It works for him.

I think one can befriend working girls. I'll never forget Deano of Chi-Town, who once asked a girl, "Are you *always* working?" When she replied no, Deano invited her out on a "normal" date. They had a great time and some very pleasant smooching/necking time. No sex of course, but that wasn't the point. Sometimes it doesn't have to be the point.

Embrace the whole experience when you're in C.R. Yes, you make some interesting points. Many times you can meet a woman that likes you as a man and no sex is involved. Of course, being human, having a good-natured relationship is much more enjoyable than just for sex. Be mindful, that you may be getting yourself into something that you may find hard to get out of.

By making good friends with most women in a developing country, you are raising their hopes of a better life. Women and their emotions relative to a man are based primarily on his ability to protect (financial, home, etc.). A Chica being a woman will likely fall in love with you and want to quickly get pregnant with your Ch*ld to seal the deal.

Now, if you get a woman pregnant in CR, I have heard that you may not be able to leave the country without making absolute financial arrangements for Ch*ld support.

Setting anyone up with false hope seems calculating and cold. So, yes, it is much more fun making friends with a Chica but you better be prepared for a deeper and permanent relationship by doing so.

Desert Son, what you say is true, but notice that I said that part of the establishment of friendship is the clear-cut understanding that you are not going to send money, father a ch*ld with her or otherwise tie yourself to her. What I was talking about was more the idea that you can hire a working girl but don't necessarily have sex with her.

I do have numerous friends among the working girls, but we all share the same understanding. I am neither a bank nor a benefactor; if she wants to be a friend, fine. But everything still exists within the boundaries of a business relationship first, friendship second, and support mechanism...never. It's difficult sometimes, if we are human males. We are bound to respond to any female crying for help, but if this instinct can be mastered, there should be few problems having friends among the sex workers.

But again, the point is more about hiring the girl to do whatever, sexual or otherwise.

Well, since you've declared yourself to be the absolute definer of what a hooker is, I'll accept your opinion. Captain Save-a-Ho? Not hardly. They work for their pay...and if one hires a hooker as a tour guide, at least sex can be part of the negotiation. My point is this: Lots of guys with relatively lousy track records with women come to C.R. and put pressure on themselves to perform. To me, this is contrary to the purpose of a vacation. Why not go for the whole experience, instead of just the hole experience?

Well PR, at 61 I hardly consider myself to be "superannuated," and I still f*#k with most of my companions. I am just saying that one can avoid a lot of headaches, wasting money and giving oneself a bad time by only forking when you choose to; otherwise, it's perfectly okay to pay the girl to do whatever you need at the moment (providing of course, that it's cool with her).
