First, it was rushed. I thought I was reading a rough draft (it seriously needs an editor).

Secondly, the man didn't deserve what happened.

Third, pray you never run afoul of the 'law' in another country.

keeping a low profile and trying to blend in seems like the best way to go.

I remember in 2008 or so, he was BMOC here in San Jose, I was sitting with a bunch of guys in HDR one eve and he came over to the table. Seems these guys had a hero worship crush on him, I never met him but was interested in finally meeting this big shot. :) 8)

He immediately took over the table, was funny, charismatic, these guys were loving all his crazy stories.

I was nobody, but he was quite cordial to me and even recommended and introduced me to a little spinner who delivered in spades as he said she would.

Years later he contacted me and said he enjoyed my warped sense of humor on the things I wrote here on CRT and asked me if I was interested in writing for him, he was planning on expanding, etc.

I was back in the states, super busy, running a business, 10-12 hour days so I politely declined, said maybe years later when I retire down there.

Dodged a bullet....

Lots of guys here hate his guts worse than liver n onions not fully cooked, but I remember him as a big shot who was nice to a nobody, me. Some friends of mine in Colombia did meet him there, they say he's quite a bit more subdued, laid back, no longer a braggart. :?

I'm guessing 2 years locked up unjustifiably in a 3rd world jail can knock the sh*t out of you, especially if you're mid 60's.

I'm not defending him, my understanding is he got plenty of warning to cease and desist and he refused, but by no means did he deserve what he got.

I will say I can do without the shirtless pics... :x :x :x

Tread lightly friends, tread lightly... :x

i see today on CNN a us citizen was released back to usa from Venezuela i think, gun charges , did c dave get any us press upon release, ?
my opinion on it all, i met him once , i think he did push his luck, bragging wise , better to run under the raydar right ?
things are changing in norte america, just listening to latest on Harvey Weinstein , probably would not happen in CR, when i had the GPS business in CR i was screwing my hot sales rep/secretary with financial bonus, she was very hot, that was better for sales, similar hooters. i was aware it was bad news but it worked that time, but i don't recommend,

Doesn’t seem like a very good topic. Just reading the cover I wouldn’t buy it.

I would buy a book about his days going back and forth to Cuba. Wasn’t he going back and forth to Cuba on a boat for years?

That’s interesting. And would sell more books. Maybe add some stuff about Key West. And other places. Dominican etc.

I just read the book myself ( my monthly free kindle,- but after reading it, I would have paid ).
It was riveting - It was hard to believe how much they screwed him over, all the lying that was going on, to make him an example. I agree it needed an editor - probably the most in-need-of-editor book I've ever read, but even with that, it was hard to put down. I messed up my sleep pattern by reading it all night.

Looks like the time in jail he sure didn't learn much, guy never stops

I have a couple friends in Medellin, they ran into him there, supposedly that's his current haunt. 8)

They said he was laid back and subdued, layin' low and still enjoying the hobby, just not taking pictures and boasting over the internet anymore...

The good news is....

No more shirtless pics with the Alfred E. Neuman "What me worry?" grin...
