Hi guys, I fell in Escazu nearly 3 years ago, broke my leg 4 places,
I'm still struggling, Ill post my campaign if you think you can chip in,
Just trying to walk now, 5 surgeries later. The whole episode makes for a good story. perhaps ill post if there is interest ?
Grateful for medical insurance, the Air Ambulance was $ 110,000 USD. to Vancouver

I do miss CR but this is not a get me back to San Jose campaign, just general help to get working again

Gracias, Fiedler

$110,000 seems a bit steep. I was medivaced from Managua, Nicaragua to Fort Lauderdale, Fl. $20,650. Bed to bed. The company took care of ambulances and all. $110,000 wow! No wonder why your asking for money? The air ambulance paramedics/nurses literally saved my life as my heart stopped for a short period.

This thread underscores why it is essential to have trip insurance that includes medical and medical evacuation. A relatively small price upfront would have taken care of this (or greatly alleviated it).

If you go to remote and / or dangerous areas, a Global Rescue annual policy is peace of mind. For places like SJ, Allianz Global's annual executive policy is tailor made.

Thanks for the tip. I bought the travel guard AIG through spirit and I gave gotten nothing but grief about the Medical flight that saved my life. DO NOT BUY AIG/TRAVEL GUARD THEY ARE NASTY AND DON'T PAY!!

I will try Allanez next trip.

Try Divers Alert Network (DAN). You don't have to be a diver to use the evacuation insurance.

I have had a policy for years with Allianz Global and thankfully other than trip delay and lost baggage I never needed anything more. My policy with them lapses in a couple of months but I just signed up with AAA and the benefits if you have been a AAA member for a couple of years is almost the same but less than half the price of Allianz Global's. 51.00 per quarter or 204.00 vs 500.00 per year. All I have with AAA is the Towing and lock out service.

Its in the works now. Them and Spirit are quick to offer the insurance but when a legitimate claim is made and they refuse. That is garbage. Every doctor in Nicaragua and here in the states have said and written if I didn't get further intervention I would have died within 24 hours.

AIG/Travel Guard could care less.

Never use AIG, Spirits go to insurance company.

They are a joke. I have bought well over 50 policies covering flights to C.R & Nicaragua and never made a claim until this one.

I'm going to try Allaniaz.

Thanks for the other tips on DAN and AAA will look into them as well.

Wow, how old are you if you don’t mind me asking. Never had trip insurance but it’s and interesting topic. Crazy how much medical costs can be these days.

I use to have great medical insurance until Obomba care stole it. What a phucking nighmare.

Most insurance companies are scum. USAA is the only one I’ve had good luck with but the premiums are high.
