this site was very visible to all the girls and that was a combination of bigger dbags that showed them the site and pretty sure a few of the girls could afford a membership
the info was out there and i personally saw girls flame guys in public for a picture they posted
so these good ole boy vip section things were not even close to that
and if i'm wrong maybe someone can correct me but the photos on the site were taken down as a direct result of his incarceration situation and his fanboy Dan was never seen again
i can only tell you what i saw and its jmo so it really doesn't mean anything at all
but in 08 there was a change in power and the world economy took a hit
guys who had money suddenly were scrambling and the frequency of trips began to wane
around the same time the local government in CR also changed and the attitude toward the hobby became more aggressive
in the middle of all this was this peacock acting like he was the shit paying for pu*sy and blasting the girls faces and bodies all over the internet
so imo he was a factor in that perfect storm situation
and yet things i read leads me to believe he had a lot of support to do what he was doing
doesn't really matter in the end and he knows what he did to those girls
but i have a lot of disdain for people who bring that kind of pain to the lives of others w complete disregard

What Cuba Dave did with his action was to make us realize that maybe we are doing something wrong (even when legal) and more than anything, afraid of the consequences.

Life goes on. What each one of us gets in life is based on individual deed, not on what somebody else does, but when you bring into your mind other peoples' problems, they might become your own problems.

Stats813 since you are a newbie and an obvious asshat I thought I would jump in here. While living in South Florida, I had the opportunity to make dozens of trips to SJO. One of the MANY people I was lucky enough to meet was LADiablo. Not only has he made hundreds of trips to Costa Rica, he also had an awesome little business in Barrio Amon that many of us enjoyed. LADiablo's business was directly effected by the antics of Cuba Dave, there were others as well. LADiablo is one of the few people on this board who has first hand knowledge of what Cuba Dave has meant to "our sport." You call him a bully with beer muscles hiding behind a keyboard. Let me tell you, LADiablo is a senior member of this community and is well respected by many. As a matter of fact, if you were in CR right now and were to ask about him, I am sure the response would be "yea I know him, he's right over there." So Stats813, please stop talking out of your ass, it hurts to watch.

I met him way back around 2008, (where else?), at HDR...

He was friends with a couple friends of mine I was sitting with, kinda silly for aging geezers as opposed to high school or college boys, but they regarded him as a BMOC, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, I was now, after hearing numerous tales of his endless misadventures and manly prowess, going to meet this famous legend.

He came to the table and was the center of attraction, lapping it up, laughing it up. All the guys couldn't wait to hear his latest madcap mayhem misadventure...

I expected him to be full of himself and arrogant, but to my surprise he was quite nice and gracious, we had a pleasant short talk and he even pointed out a couple hot looking chicas, brought them over to the table, introduced them and recommended them, I ended up going home with one little spinner he recommended, she delivered as he said she would.

I thought it was a 3rd world travesty of justice what they did to him, these little obnoxious corrupt tin horn dictators, makes all of us a bit nervous.

Nonetheless, he attracts problems and potentially even worse problems and the driver of the getaway car gets busted with the bank robber, even if the robber tells the driver he's just going in to make a quick withdraw...so for our safety, and he'd be an incomprehensible fool to start drawing attention to himself once again, we should pretty much disavow him and move on...

Years ago he did, he's technically still a member I assume...My understanding was "Cuba Dave" was his handle here as he bragged about his exploits in Cuba perhaps even more so than CR or DR...he's even on Wikipedia!!!

I believe he's in Colombia, specifically Medellin, at least that's what he says on his fb site, Cubadave Strecker. He says he's writing a book about his exploits and what happened to him and his experiences with corrupt authorities.

I wish him well, he looks much better than when he got out of the CR pokey. I found him to be a gracious funny nice guy when I met him, he made a major mistake or a series of major mistakes, but he's more than paid for it in spades.

Remember, we're not in poontang Disney World, we're in a third world country with a backwards and vicious dictatorial court system, any one of us could suffer a similar fate if we made a wrong public or even private move so everyone be very very careful out there...

As I understand from reading some of the reports on Cuba's arrest it was done by the OIJ because of pressure brought by some US Human trafficking outfit.
As Mako113 said look at your own country first and see how the court system works. What business has the US to interfere in other countries business ?

The more I listened, the more I realized that they COULD NOT clearly define what the problem was. They had some foggy vague notion that encompassed so much territory . They could make a case that the girl scouts were being forced to sell cookies, and 'voila' you are guilty of trafficking.
They had no concept of adult consent, or anything like that.

The way some people see it, anything they see could be called trafficking. These laws need to be more clearly defined
