Hi -

Has anyone ever bought two round trip tickets on Spirit?

When I price it out it is cheaper to buy round trip to FLL and then purchase another round trip to San Jose. It is about $180 cheaper and I wont have bags.

Is Spirit going to ding me after I make the second purchase?

Thanks

How long is your layover? If the inbound flight to FLL is late and you miss the next flight, you may have no recourse as you have two different tickets, same applies back to the states.
If it one ticket they have to get you home as soon as possible because they were late.

Thanks for the info and something to think about.

Both layovers are over 4 hours.

If it was a tight layover they might catch you on that clause about being at the airport 2 hours before an international flight. With 4 hour layovers it shouldn't be a problem. If you check-in online that would also help. A friend of mine recently got bumped to standby because he arrived 48 minutes before a flight from Dallas to San Diego on Delta.

I would purchase 4 one-way tickets because if you miss the first leg of a round trip ticket, they will automatically cancel the return flight.

Something to remember when you buy one way tickets to CR is to have proof showing your return ticket. No airline will let you board for CR without seeing a ticket out of there.

As long as you can provide them proof of another flight via email or confirmation code they are fine. I have probably had 15 flights that over the last 5 years that have been one way or the last leg of a round trip into Costa Rica and have only been asked for proof of a return flight 3-4 times.

I did that one time, for the same reason, it was much cheaper. I had checked luggage also. I showed the ticket agent the two tickets, and he checked my bag all the way through. That was three or four years ago, and I didn't have any problems doing it that way.
