The Sportsman's Lodge is pretty much in between the two.

I've never had much luck at New Fantasy, but it's nearly next door to the Castillo. Zona II and Little Havana are just a couple of blocks down the hill as well.

At what time of day?

With an honest taxista (there are some), the HDR is a 5 minute, 658 colones ($1.17) on the meter (say 'maria por favor') cab ride. It's also a short walk (10 minutes or less if you are less than crippled). There's girls in the Blue Marlin 24/7.

Or, you can walk to the SL. Or the HLH (probably afternoons and evenings).

And there's a few girls that hang out at the Hotel Taormina in the casino (in the evening).

During the day several MPs are in walking distance. New Fantasy (maybe nothing exciting but you never know); Zona II; Theo's; etc. Most don't have many / any girls drop in before noonish.

...Or, you can walk to the SL and take 'pot luck' (there's plenty of times that the count is zero there and they close at 11). Or the HLH (probably afternoons and evenings)...
I don't know what your problem is with the SL, but your untrue subtle digs are getting old. There is hardly any time that the bar/restaurant is open that there are zero working ladies there.

My comments about the availability of chicas at various times at the SL is not a reflection on a great place to stay.

The SL is an excellent choice of a place to stay. And a great bar.

Yes there are. I have been there numerous times through out the day that there is only the bar tenders (who are working, and are female, but not 'working girls'). Mornings and early afternoons can be dead.

Edited to add: And the SL does close at 11. If you want pu*sy at 12 midnight it is closed. Or at 3 AM. And if you're looking for pu*sy at 10 AM I guarantee you there will be more options at the HDR than at the SL.

The SL is fine but it is hit-and-miss (edited to add) except in the evenings. That's a fact.

Morning or early afternoon: Try a local MP. There are threads with walking directions and pictures in this Forum. I'm sorry, but you'll have to do the work to look those up for yourself. Just look for walking trip San Jose.

Evenings:
HDR has plenty. Later is better.
SL has fewer but still more than you need. Start just after dinner.

My advice, find something interesting and active to do every day before evening. Go for a hike. See the museum or zoo. Get some exercise. This will put you in a good mood for evening adventures.

Always good people watching at the del rey in the morning regardless of the day, and many days you can find some value and good looking chicas if you are looking for morning delight

Walking in the morning / day is safe and 5-8 minutes from either SL, LA or Castillo
