Costa Rica Announces Immigration Control Plan
This Digital System will Improve Entry to and Exit from the country.

The General Directorate of Migration and Immigration explained in a press release that the “Intake Migration and Invalidity Card” (TIE) is currently used, in which the traveler completes the data requested in a form and the control is done through the airline.

With this new plan, the traveler will go to an immigration control desk directly where the officer will check the exit requirements and record the required information on the system immediately and expedite the process.

In the process of entry, as part of the immigration control procedure to be performed by the officer, the passenger will be given a short interview that will include consulting the reason for the trip, place of stay or stay, among others; immediately included in the system.

“The registration information will be more reliable when it is entered by the Immigration Officer, who will also have direct contact with the passenger allowing, through their police experience, to detect those behaviors or anomalous situations”, explained the Migration Directorate.

For Costa Rican authorities, these consultations are essential in all migratory control, since the State has the obligation to know or investigate the actions that the visitor will carry out within the national territory.

Among the outstanding advantages is the agility in the process of control of entry and exit of the country, reduction in waiting times, improved control of identity of the person and the travel document and promote border modernization.

In addition, measures such as strengthening security through the provision of air or sea electronic closures, authorizing departure, and allowing the tracking and investigation of passengers are key elements of the general migratory policy.

Same as before just input in a computer (supposedly). These are the same questions they are suppose to ask at immigration.

It's the same standard questions. Why are you traveling to Costa Rica? What is your job in America? How long are you staying? Where are you staying? They give you a quick look and a smile. You're on your way. I arrived the 20th and departed the 24th.

The return is a pain in the ass. It's at that point I realized how much Costa Rica is little America. They have an interview process right before you check in for your flight. Literally, right there. They want to know, What were your plans? Where you went and minor details of your trip. Give as little info as possible. Otherwise, they start digging and assuming. Then, start questioning. It's really a phucking hassle and the reason I go to Costa Rica is to get away from the USA and the neo-Nazi concentration camps. Forever in a police state. "You can't drink your drinks on the sidewalk; you have to drink on the bricks."

The same people who interview you right before check in are the same people who divide you into boarding zones, right at the departure gate, to ask you more questions. Did anyone give you a package? Are you traveling alone, blah blah blah, and next, they pull people to the side for random inspections. Then, they let you board the plane. It really is a pain in the phucking ass; on the return anyway.

Of course its little U.S. we give a healthy supply of funds for "anti" everything. The latest being two 100+ foot Coast Guard vessels complete with training for almost 50 Costa Ricans in the U.S.

This new tactic may curb my frequent trips and seek other destinations until the dust settles.

Jesus Christ! It's enough of a pain coming back thru ATL. Even with Gobal Entry it takes at least an hour to go thru security. Plus the shitty attitude of the ATL employees. It is literally easier to board a plane in Israel at TLV or Ovda!!!

A heads up on ATL. TSA did not have ANY priority lines, pre-check, etc. They threw EVERYBODY in one big pile. Matter of fact, I was ahead of people who spent all that extra money on their Pre-Check manure. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on that shit. I figure over time the regular people, me, who didn't spend their money on that non-sense, would eventually be let out of the container; since everyone else purchased that TSA pre-check non-sense.

In other words, the lines for pre-check will evenutally become longer and us regular people lines will become shorter. Since the self-entitled purchased their right to pass thru quicker. Creating longer lines for pre-check and shortening us regular people lines. I was half-way right. They threw you behind us regular people and all lines were massive.

The TSA PreCheck has Nothing to do with coming into ATL from a foreign country. Global Entry, on the other hand, does. It saves me 30-60mins of bullshit with Customs.
EVERYone has to go thru re-entry security. Look for me next time you go thru ATL. I'm the tall "Self-Entitled" guy 300 people ahead of you in the security line, waving my middle finger at you and your Manure.

Nicarica...I had a female agent inbound and then a female interview agent on the return flight. She insisted I was partying; because I stayed in San Jose by myself. I told her no, and left it at that. I was not selected for the random inspection where they pull you to the side at the gate.

The new rules from Washington or DHS or whoever is forcing all airlines to "hassle" every one coming into to the USA from any country. You cannot blame Costa Rica they are just following orders from the almighty USA.
