Does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonable hotel near the airport? It doesn't have to be fancy, I just need a place to crash if I get stranded overnight and don't want to pay the $50-60 roundtrip back to the gulch if I have to get up early in the morning anyway.

i stayed at a place once for a week and the bar even had working girls every night. it wasn't the cheapest but it was nice even though the pool had no heat. its early am and i'm fading but if it interests you feel free to pester me wank ill dig up details lol

Aloft is about 10 minutes away if you are not arriving during busy traffic time. It is right across from the Masarati Dealership. Nice hotel and not too bad on price, definitely not an establishment for working girls but you can get girls in there with no problems if they are not dressed and act like the typical working girl.

I often wondered why such a long drive to the Gulch.

What is the reason for not having a chica friendly place near the airport? Are there government restrictions?

Most of the hotels near the airport are either multinational chains or 'family' hotels.

I registered mi novia at the Hampton Inn - the desk jerk wanted to have her leave her cedula and have me pay a chica fee but then I got all nasty gringo on him and pointed out she was on the reservation (but it was not a good night anyway - the AC was tearing itself apart - window sealed - hot as Phuck - and the manager accused me of just trying to use the 'no questions asked guarantee' and never apologized for the lack of AC even after they checked it).

We routinely stay at the Resort Martino (hotelmartino.com) in La Garita de Alajuela (15 minutes from the airport) and I register her but they say guests are allowed (no more than 1). Same with the Hilton Garden Inn in La Sabana.

Plus the distance. Some chicas advertise on back Page / Craigslit that they go to airport hotels - mostly ones that live in Alajulea. But from centro to come to your airport hotel? Mas dinero.
