So I went into Centerfolds in Jaco again. I guess I'm a gluten for punishment. After diner at Kokimos, it was raining so hard I didn't want to leave. So I thought I'd check out Centerfolds strip club again since I got free entrance. Big mistake.

Centerfolds strip club in Jaco is only for those people with no care for money and a love for the strip club atmosphere. If you are looking for sex, this is not the place.

It starts with a $10.00 cover just to get in. The atmosphere is nice for a strip club. Typical. But compared to any strip club I've been inside in the States (which is many), it is lacking.

It has only one stage. In the US, you'd see at least one girl dancing at any moment. In Centerfolds, you'll see one girl dance two songs, then wait 30 minutes for the next girl. Worse yet, when a girl dances, she is fully clothed for the first song. And only starts to undress for the second song. By the time she is fully naked, the second song is over and she leaves.

When you are there you will quick by accosted by girls asking for drinks. While you get a beer for 2,000 colones, twice the normal price at a bar, she will order a fancy drink at 6,000 colones and drink twice as fast as you.

I was there for a few hours and spent $80.00 on drinks. That is without a lap dance. And only $8.00 for beers for me, and $72.00 on drinks for the girls. It is very each to spend your money on nothing at Centerfolds.

If you want sex, you can get it. It is $350.00 for a private room. Plus the amount you need to pay the girl. Which is not cheep. You can easy find a girl at the Cocal a few steps away for sex for $100.00. Even with a $100 hotel room, it is way cheaper to find a girl at the Cocal for sex.

The only reason for going to Centerfolds is if you have a large group. even then hire a girl from the Cocal and save yourself a bunch of money.

Skip Centerfolds entirely.

CR clubs have a different business model... the way the club makes money is the girl drinks. I am guessing this buys you the equivalent of a lap dance...at least the company of the girl. That is pretty much how they work there. Here it is twenty bucks a song to get a lapdance. Works out similar.

Not saying this is a good deal....but in some of the San Jose clubs it is a fair deal...others not.

Yes, lady drinks is a way the club makes money and the girl gets a cut of the lady drink profit. In the Angeles City Philippines, girls that use lady drinks excessively are considered drink sluts and should be avoided. Sad to see that practice in CR.

Hmm... I think in CR they have to use them or they won't have a job. Usually its not even the girl that tells you when to order...it's the waiters. It is roughly one drink per 10 minutes it seems....maybe they do it by song count as well...I don't know. But if you want to talk to a girl beyond just an introduction you will be asked by someone to buy a drink for the girl. You can politely refuse and the girl will move on.

This is the MO in all CR strip clubs. Yes, the price to Phuck on site is ridiculous, like the Tango India/Elite/Hollywood clubs in SJ, but but the drinks thing is normal. But I have never bought a girl a drink so I can talk to her. It's to fondle her while she dry humps me.

Not quite the MO for all CR strip clubs. At Club Alcazar, I buy the lady the mandatory one drink so I can enjoy 30 minutes of full service with her in a very nice, clean room for a total of 37,000 colones, not including the 6,000 colones entrance fee.

Yep...for sure if you're going to the back/upstairs... but the lapdance thing is, I think, about 10 minutes per drink...never timed it exactly. I mostly just go to watch the show (at Alcazar)...don't get hassled, politely say no to the lapdances, and I blend right in with the ticos (although some of them love the lapdance thing too).

To be fair...I've never been to Centrefolds and I suspect it is a lot higher pressure atmosphere...much like the higher price clubs in San Jose...and I wouldn't like that either.

"Mandatory" anything after paying a cover is phucking clip joint.

I can see your point. It would probably be a better idea to just have a set 30-minute room rate without requiring the purchase of a drink for the lady. The bottom line, though, is that I think 37,000 colones for a half-hour romp in a very nice, clean, modern room w shower in a SJ strip club is quite reasonable. I've had some excellent sessions there over the years, especially w Angie, who, alas, is no longer there. And the entrance fee does come w two beers or three mixed drinks. Not even close to a ripoff, IMHO.

Nothing mandatory...I've paid the cover, got my 2 or 3 drinks for that price (not out of line cost for just the drinks) and spent no more....and had a great time. The only thing that is mandatory is that if you want a lapdance you have to pay something for it.

But you didn't like the place (Centrefolds)...and it is a high pressure place from what you say. A valid warning / heads up that I do appreciate...for next time I'm in Jaco it's a place I will skip because I don't like the clip joint atmosphere of those types of clubs either.

The one drink - 7,000 colones - is only mandatory if you want to take the lady to the room for a 30-minute session. Thus, 30,000 for the 30 minutes + 7,000 for the drink gets you the session. Like you stated, nothing is mandatory beyond the 6,000 entrance fee. You want a lap dance or a visit to the room, you obviously have to pay extra.
I guess my ultimate point is that it is completely inaccurate to group Alcazar with other clubs that truly are "clip joints," such as Tango India.

I am not judging here, but have often wondered why TF anyone would go to a strip club in the CR when you have a rotating lineup in front of you for the choosing at the HDR or the CoCal?

Just one of a number of options. I tend to "wife up" with two favoritas when I'm down here, and I STILL enjoy the occasional trip to Club Alcazar. One can do it all and still chew gum at the same time: go to the MPs, hunt the Blue Marlin and the Sportsmens, check out a strip club...
