On a none Tica hotel review site a more than one person claimed someone stole a whole bunch of money and valuables out of there room. I called them and asked if they had in room safes like at the sportsman's and they said no. One guy said it happened while he went out fishing. I guess if you went swimming in the ocean you would be afraid to have your cash in pocket in case it came out of pocket and washed out to sea. The guy said they stole his passport also.

It was Vista Mar 5b and someone went into the safes and stole the money while they were gone, just like they used to do at the hotel Taromana before it had that name. It was written on a travel review site in Apr 2017. Who's knows if it's true but it led me to CROC"S instead. I stayed in Vista Mar 5 nights and had no problem in July 2015. But stealing from safes is something I can't take a chance on.

Cocal – the hotel does have electronic in-room safes just like the ones at Sportsmans. They upgraded a couple years ago from one that used a key that required a deposit.

Of course, there are management codes or keys to open safes when guests forget their codes, which opens the possibility of employees using these for stealing from guests at any hotel. It is always how diligent management is about who they hire and supervision. We all know we can feel confident about using the safes at Sportsmans because of the great management.

I have used the in-room safes at Cocal many times with no problems. But I am a little less confident about it than at Sportsmans.

The cheaper electronic safes can easily be opened, even by a Ch*ld. Tap on top of the safe while cycling latch , time it right and safe opens.

CROC'S is worth the extra money for the luxury environment and beautiful air conditioned bar and casino. At the small bar in the casino they were charging $2 for a rum and coke. I have had TLN every night I have stayed at this hotel. There was a guy at the CROC'S that said he got robbed coming out of a grocery store so security is an issue.

Keep in mind most will still have to hang around CoCal to find chicas, including hot, humid and rain this time of year.
