My apologies if this topic has probably already been covered, however I could not find any relevant information from searching. Anyhow if anyone could give me any advice I'd appreciate it!
I'm coming to San Jose, Costa Rica for the first time this wed-sat, and my friend already booked a room at the Hilton Garden Inn, which although very nice isn't chica friendly from doing research on these boards (one poster commented it's 40 plus taxes for every unregistered chica you bring up). Since neither me or my buddy have any females we know to pre register, and also the fact that since this hotel is in a nicer area bringing a working girl back in whatever attire would raise eyebrows, obviously we're going to both have to find some short stay motel/hotels near HDR when we go mongering each night. Obviously we could just hit up various Mp's and do the deed there so we wouldn't have to also pay and book for an additional room but since I'm assuming the top flight talent is going to be at the Blue Marlin bar inside HDR on most evenings it looks like we'll just have to pay up. Also due to safety it's prob not a good idea to go to the girls place if she offers for obvious reasons.

Bottom line we're looking for something cheap that's not over the top disgusting with visible roaches crawling all over the place. Neither one of us is looking for an all night or multiple hour session so it just has to be somewhat clean and under 30 bucks ideally for a quick romp in the sack for an hour or so. I live near Los Angeles so I frequent hong kong and adelitas often, Im hoping for some motel or hotel walking distance or a short cab ride away that's similar in cost etc? And I realize it's not a good idea to walk around anywhere at night, so obviously unless this cheap love motel is literally across the street from HDR im assuming we're going to have to get in the cab and go to this short time motel.

Welll that takes Hotel Asia off the list. I would suggest the Morazon next door to the Del Rey or if I was in your shoes I would rent a room at Hotel Little Havana for 50.00 or whatever the rate is for CRT members and have a 2nd room.

The Hotel Morazan (down the block to the west of the HDR on Av 1) would be good. As is the Hotel Little Havana.

Hotel Paradise just across Av 1 gets decent reviews (I've never used it) but supposedly the girls get blacklisted from the HDR if they walk over there crossing the street so they have to go around the block.

Also the Hotel Officina (which I have used) at Calle 3 and Av 9 (I think).

Another point is that La Sabana is an expensive cab ride away from Centro.

Cabs in La Sabana are generally honest (i.e., run their meter). Cabs in Centro around the 'gulch' are not. I've had taxistas at the HDR try to gouge me $25 for the fare to La Sabana (it's less than CRC 3000).

Why not cancel the room at the Hilton Garden Inn (which is nice) and get rooms at the Taormina (equally nice), La Amistad (great bar and restaurant if you go all-inclusive) or Castillo (owned by the same owner as LA and on it's way to being the top spot)?

You can cancel Hilton reservations right up to 6 PM of the day of the reservation.

Hotel Avenida Central is a good choice for a short-term hotel - - - or even for a basic overnight room.

It's on Avenida Central, between Calle 11 and Calle 13, directly across the street from Mas x Menos. That's about 2 blocks from HDR- - - a safe, convent walk even at night.

Hotel Paradise has nice rooms for a hot-sheet hotel, but some girls don't like to go there for the reason mentioned above.

Hotel Officina is set up as a short term, P4P hotel. It is on the corner of Av 9 and Calle 1, probably a 1-2k taxi ride from the HDR.

Being a resident with family I use the Motel La Hotel Oficina about once a week if I don't go to a MP. It is very clean and nice with a bathroom in every room. Three hours with towels 8800 colones, with Jacuzzi 10800 colones. Good staff and I've been considering asking one in when my date doesn't show up. I don't take a room until my date comes.

Book a different hotel entirely if at all possible.

If you need to produce an invoice or some other evidence of your stay at a "normal" hotel then I'd opt for Morazon as a ST play option.

I can confirm that Hotel Paradise is solid and right across the street from HDR. And I can also confirm that chicas don't want to be seen going in for fear of being banned from HDR. I guess my report out on that with photos didn't come up in search? Hotel Asia is dirt cheap and dirt nasty and I had no problem with it. Oficina, as reported, is nice but in my evaluation not convenient for a 1st time visitor, particularly after dark.

Cheapest and cleanest (and convenient) do not go hand in hand. It's a world of tradeoffs and Moazon is a good balance in that regard.
