There is a lot kiddy corner from Del Rey, next to the casino. I know a chica that parks there when she overnites with me. I don't know the price, but I'd be suprised if it is $5 US. It is fenced in, which is a MUST!

Thanks, I might end up doing oasis and ZB since marriott might have a high chica fee.

Very easily  If you have never driven in SJ, as most mongers have not, you have no reason to scope out parking lots.

There's the lot that we used... if you walk out of DR and cross the corner to Horseshoe Casino keep walking up the block, it's on same side as the Horseshoe Casino. If I remember correctly, we paid like 2k for like 5-6 hours. We never parked there overnight but you can, there's a guy that stays (sleeps) there all night. I know because when we went to get our car at 3am once, we had to bang on the gate to wake him up.

I'm sorry I don't normally drive around downtown either and I don't spend time scoping out parking lots but I must have walked by the lot hundreds of times going to and from the KL or back and forth to the Morazon. If it were some other business I might see how it wouldn't have been noticed, but it is a huge empty space.

Now if they're talking about some lot on the same side of Avenida 1 as the Horseshoe casino, that's got me stumped too.

I don't recall seeing any lots near either of those places, but then it wasn't like I was scoping such things out :P. I believe there was some sort of enclosed parking behind the Amon Plaza which is 2 blocks north of ZB. The Don Carlos has a parking building right next door to NF and about 2 blocks east of ZB. However, I think both of those places are only for hotel guests. I also seem to recall a really big lot, which I THINK is public on the other side of Morazon Park at the opposite end of the block that the metal building is on across from the Holiday Inn. If you're planning to park for several hours during the day rather than trying to find a lot near either of those places, your best bet would probably be to find a centrally located spot like the one near the HDR and just walk or take a cab to whereever you go like everyone else. On the plus side, there is parking at many places we go such as Kamur (not on my map but easy to get to about 10 blocks south of Parque Central and not a difficult drive at night when traffic is light). Going to Motel Eden can be a rip-off with cabs, something that might be avoided with ones own car. and Mall San Pedro has its own parking garage. OTOH, I'm not sure if El Pueblo only has street parking. Its usually been dark when I've been there although I THINK there is a lot directly to the west of it. For the most part though, I recommend that you pick a lot you know and stick with it and walk or take cabs from there.

I've parked in that lot next to the Horseshoe Casino, but I can't recall the price. I don't think it was too expensive. I had to go down and park on a lower level. One night I parked overnight in the lot between the DR and KL. The Tica I was with warned me that the car would probably be broken into, but I had no problems. I was staying at the Morazan. I believe the lot is supposed to be reserved for the DR patrons though. One
night Alonso from the Morazan sent me to a lot about a block west of the Holiday Inn. It is a huge well-lit fenced-in lot that's open 24 hours, but it cost me something like $40 to park overnight. There used to be a parking lot about two blocks west of the Morazan. It is fenced in, but they lock the gates at midnight or so and open them at 6:00 or 7:00 the next morning. The two previous lots I mentioned are not in exactly the safest neighborhoods at night (many trannies, etc.). There used to be a lot just east and adjacent to the Colonial, but with the addition of the new hotel, may not be there anymore. Alonso also told me of a lot about three or four blocks south of the DR, but I never checked it out.

YO Chi-Town:

You mentioned $12 a day rental. At that price best you double check to see what type of insurance is included. Some rental companies have been known to not include (on or not on purpose) covering damage to vehicles caused by vandalism. Make sure you have that coverage.

I'll make sure AAA or my insurance covers me during the trip just to be safe. But 12 bucks a day is pretty cheap.

Around that area there are plenty lots.

1- Right acrros from DR
2- Right next to horse shoe
3- Right next to Nashville South bar
4-Across from hotel Asia.
5- Corner of the Holiday Inn
