One of the hecklers from outside the HDR followed me into the atm room outside the bank just across the street. I pushed him out the door. It was about mid morning.

I use that ATM machine almost every day that I'm in SJ. I've never had a problem there.

But I walk FAST. maybe the bad guys don't want to keep up with me.

I like it! I also walk fast. I just feel like if I walk a little faster than taking a stroll, it may seem like I have a purpose & a determination, & that makes me less susceptible. Probably a false sense of security, but anyway. Stay Safe,

Seems to be a consistent correlation between certtain areas in the world, and poverty/victim-consciousness memes - something I think about when revisiting this subject of beggars and scammers, etc.
But so easy to break the pattern. I had parents who both worried about finances.. but my first selfhelp book, Power of Your Subconscious Mind.. even just reading the first couple of chapters.. broke me out of any sense of limitation, and what is really true about reality and wealth-creation.

Sometimes I'd be tempted to talk to one of the chica's I'd been with, in TJ, about how changing beliefs can turn one's life around.. but then I'd give up on the thought of doing that.. and just ask her to turn around so I can do another round of doggie. It's going to fall on deaf ears to try to help people sometimes.

Three casinos that used to have ATMs have removed them. Del Rey, Colonial and Toarmina.

Apart from banks the AM/PM and Mas x Menos grocery stores have ATMs.

BAC only allows $200 withdrawal in a 24 hour period.

Toarmina will change cash or a credit card with a 5% service charge.

Colonial casino seems to be the best place in the gulch to change dollars to colones

ATM removals, lower withdrawal allowances, high service charges, it's all a part of the global war on cash.

The exchange rate of the Costa Rican colón against the dollar reached ₡581.90 (to sell) and ₡569.26 (to buy) on Thursday, the highest since January 2010.

The new record stood for only a day: on Friday, the Central Bank of Costa Rica (BCCR) reported a ₡583.37 / ₡570.71 price, the new seven-year high.

Since the start of the year, financial markets have predicted that the colón this year would face increased pressure to dip against the dollar. Central Bank officials have attributed the upward trend this year mostly to external influences, including uncertainty over economic measures issued by the new administration of U.S. President Donald Trump and to the U.S. Federal Reserve’s decisions about its base rates.

The Central Bank earlier this year reported that the exchange rate depreciated by 3.4 percent in 2016, and that the figure for this year could be very similar.

President Luis Guillermo Solís said Thursday said at a public event in San José that he trusts the way the BCCR is handling the exchange rate of the dollar. He said the bank is “an autonomous agency outside political decisions” and noted that he has never intervened in the face of abrupt changes in the exchange rate.

“The whole country witnessed that I’ve said the Central Bank has all necessary instruments for properly handling currency policies, even at times when the dollar recorded its lowest prices,” the president said.

Solís also ruled out meeting with BCCR officials to intervene in their exchange rate policies.

“I’m not going to meet with any bank officials. If I do, people will say that I am manipulating their decisions. I trust Central Bank officials,” he said.

Banco National and Scotia both let me withdraw 500.00 (280,000) with a 1500 colones fee. The only issue you will run into is on paydays (1st and 16th) as the atms get drained of money and will self limit once they get to a certain amount of cash on hand.

Damn. You mean they moved my ATM in the back right corner on floor 1? That's some bullshit. That was a low key and SAFE ATM too. Other SAFE ATM alternatives like it?
