Hi everyone,

Flying in on May 5th for my very first trip to CR for the mongering and playing poker.

Any thoughts on which is good basic, chica-fee free hotel in close proximity to HDR?

SL is booked solid that weekend so I am thinking Morazán since it's right there by HDR or Taormina. I have read mixed reviews on Morazon about the weak showers and the noisy rooms. Thoughts?

The all-inclusive at LA is cool but I like to venture out and eat local food so proximity is key.

Here is my plan for now - welcome your comments!

May 5 land at 8:30 - get to Hotel and go straight to Heaven...HDR [ hopefully, chicas won't have all been taken by 11]
May 6 Saturday - some MP action in the afternoon - my research on this site tells me Monicas and Relax are the spots
- Poker in the evening and wrap up with another foray into HDR

May 7 Sunday : see the sights a bit - maybe Arenal
- poker in the evening and then checkout SL

May 8- morning trek to a MP before flying back.

Taormina was good last year..big rooms..do not know this year though as I have not visited:)

No question, Taormina. I've stayed there twice on the fourth floor recently and was very impressed. A vibrant poker room on premises as well, and, of course, chica-friendly. Construction noise due to third-floor remodeling might be an issue for you during the day, likely to be going on thru May. Did not bother me much last month.
