The del rey has always been very sensitive about people recommending other places for women, drinks etc...they have banned many over the years for this. Usually a temporary ban. I dont think they care very much if you sit there for hours not buying anything. Hell you could sit there for hours trying to buy a drink as the waitresses would rather not do anything anyways. Guys have been going there for years using the computers , sitting around not buying anything. Guys have even been known to bring in drinks in other containers , sit on the couches and drink that stuff. And not get banned. The del rey really gets pissed off if you mention the sportsmens lodge. Be careful with that.

This. I personally never knew it was possibly to get banned or anybody who was banned before this. Its like its taboo to talk about it. Sorry for emoji100.

Sorry you got banned, I hope it's only temporary. This is good info to know though, I might have easily made that blunder while talking to somebody there.

I know countless guys that rarely if ever buy anything and just sit for hours. When asked about it, some of them say " I wouldn't spend a penny on this place" . They don't get banned for that, although I think they should show a little respect and support their local hang out; even if it's a cup of the overpriced coffee once in a while.

If I go to Burger King and start talking up how McDonald's offers cheeseburgers the outcome is all but inevitable. I'm going to be asked to leave, most likely for good.

Owners of a business will do what they want to protect their business. We went through this whole song and dance with the chica banned from SL. There should be an appeal process, a set time, etc. Bullpuckey, business owners will decide what is in the best interest of their business and act accordingly. Anyone crying foul hasn't owned a business, run a business, or done business.

Has to be more to it. I've seen people fall asleep on the lobby couches and no one cared.

People are there 24/7 bullshiting about everything including other places to eat, drink and Phuck.

I was on a three day vacation. Came to Costa Rica every 3 months. 6 times the past year. On my second day, I got banned. I have no connection to any business in Costa Rica. Apparently, like my friend said, all I did to get banned was no money thing and direct others to places (guessing massage parlors cause I never mentioned restaurants) away from Del rey. In Del rey's mind, they would rather the guests sample the girls only from their hotel since the guy is more likely to buy drinks, they get the chica fee and when the girls exchange dollars for colons they make some money to (I'm just reasoning). In hindsight, this is legitimate reason to be banned. Im not arguing against being banned.

Every person I talked to said it has to be more to the story but thats it. The Del Rey is very jealous business (no disrespect). They might tolerate you if you are staying/spending money and are seen pointing to other places. But both strikes and your out. I remember one guy told me, the owners of La Amistad, Sportsmens, and another hotel (forgot) are very good friends who can be seen taking a walk in the mornings. Del Rey owner does not want anything to do with them. They do not like interacting with the competition or anyone directing them to the competition.

Like I said, I was kicked out in front of everyone and they told me if I wanted to talk to the manager I would have to come back in two days. Manager made the decision but did not even want to speak to me nor I don't know who that is. I am a very reasonable person. I tell the truth when I can. The fact alone that this is one of the few (maybe only) posts that shed light on banning should be enough to show I am not one to twist the truth. I admit it could also have been I was hanging around the place throughout the day but by no means was I there the whole time. I would go to Sportsmens, Monicas, Zona 2, etc too. Plus, I was only there for 1-2 days before I got kicked out. It wasn't week or a couple of days.

If anyone thinks I'm lying, my friend told me they have a picture up there of me. Ask them why this person was banned and they will tell you exactly the same thing I'm telling you. I've never been kicked out of a place before. Never got drunk, never fought, never argued with anyone, always paid the chicas, known to be friendly guy etc.

I think what people are craving is a play by play. We have the setting and the main character... play it out for us. We got the news report version. Do it like a story. Like this...

It was Weds around 3:00 pm. I picked up a liter of water at am/pm and walked into HDR. The usual fuglies were there and the mid day lighting did them no favors. I'm minding my own business near the blackjack table scanning for anything worth more than $50 for short time. Lamenting the lack of talent, I whispered to myself, "should have gone to zona 2." Next thing I know the pit boss comes over and I'm taken into a dark room....

I totally believe this guy, the del rey has been doing this exact thing for many years. Not because of the no buying thing. The owners of the del rey are lowlifes with dubious business practices. They used to threaten women with a ban if they worked at other places etc....
I know of 5 or 6 mongers who got banned for recommending other places to monger.
Someone do an experiment by loudly recommending the sportsmens lodge for women. U be gettin banned quick.

Again people have been sitting on the couches, using the computers, sneaking in drinks, and not buying anything for years. They dont care about that.

At the end of the day, Del Rey can do what they want to do. Im not here to question their pratices. Just warn others since so many american locals or mongers dont even though they know how Del Rey system works.

Where were you in HDR? Were you talking to a fellow patron, a chica, or a server? What places did you mention? Who on the staff approached you? Did they take you into an office? How did they get your picture? Did they ask you to say queso?

None of those answers would be bashing if it's your factual account of what went on.

Why the Phuck not? What are you afraid of? They already banned you, and not for any kind of sensical reason but for stupid petty nonsense.

I don't buy this "story". Like everybody else has said, we are not getting all the details. I have been in there talking about other places. Are there hidden mikes? How would they hear you?

Does anyone remember Speedy and the way he would operate? My $$ say's it him. Guy comes to CR regularly and never post then all of the sudden post multiple times per day? Check out 'Blester" also. He is just stroking you guys.
