Agreed on this, although i only use the far left one. I used BCR inside INS once and they double debited me although i was able to get it corrected with my bank when i got home.

As indicated above, you might want to try the tower at Banco Nacional. If I remember correctly, I was withdrawing more than colones there than I could get out of the BCR on Calle 4 right around the corner. This was back in May.

Banco San Jose. $200 (or the CRC equivalent) - 2x a day. That's more than CRC 260K.

This was my first trip but I was able to get up to 500,000 colones in the scotiabank by the HDR a day and up to 200,000 colones in the banco popular ATM in the INS building a day. Both were fee free with fidelity cash management ATM card.

I wouldn't say it is "by the HDR". It's to the west on Av. Central - about a 21 minute walk.

Actually there is a scotia bank about a 2 min walk from the DR. Beside taco bell across the street from the east side of nat theater. Behind nat theater.

The Scotia Bank that I know about - - - in front of the Gold Museum, and behind the National Theater - - - , is on Calle 5 near Avenida Central.

I don't know of one closer to HDR than this one. That's why I asked.

There are a lot of Scotiabank ATM's in the downtown area but the one RAC mentioned appears to be closest to HDR. I mainly use the ATM's in HDR and Colonial for safety reasons.

ScotiaBank appears to be on an ATM spree...they are popping up everywhere. They now have one next to the front desk at both Cocal and Croc's not to mention a lot of other places. Gulch hotels should look into this as ATMs are moneymakers for businesses that have them. Businesses I ran in the states would pull in thousands of $$ per year through ATM fees. (Assuming this haven't changed in the 10+ years since I've been out of that kind of thing.)
