She got a job in a Phamacia - all is back to normal. Which means I will not be paying anymore rent. In the long run, I was happy to help out.

I've been in a similar situation before down there. Take it from me ALWAYS PAY THE LANDLORD OR PROVIDER DIRECTLY. You will eliminate any chance for your friend to use your money for any other " necessity " .

She can't pay her rent, she's got a family of dead beats who don't work. And she's seeing dating another guy? Give me a friggin'break! In the States, we'd call you a "sap" or a "chump".

My gut feeling is that back in the States, you'd say, "Next!" And go find yourself a real woman.

Stop dating polas. And start having some self-respect.

Start dating girls with good jobs, an education and good families if you want a novia. If you just want to get laid, then stick with the DR/ZB experience.

I would never have the oportunity to date a woman like this in the states.
She's 26, I'm 61, overweight and ugly. A woman like this would never look at me twice.
I've known her for about a year and a half. When I first met, she was unhappily (that a word?) working at a MP. In that time, she started attending university for computer programing. At the same time, she started (and finished) english studies. She finally found a good job working as a programer for a computer company. Her other family members fell on hard times and she alone supported them.
When the computer company she worked for went out of business, I chose to help her because I admire her for what she's accomplished. Within 2 weeks, after pounding the pavement, she found another job working in a 'caja" in a pharmacia.
In closing, I have to mention that there is no other novia. I had suspected there was, but I have recently found out I was wrong. I am very proud of her and feel that it was an honor to help her out in her hour of need.

You didn't "get" this girl. She got YOUr wallet. Sooner or later, you'll realize this.

Now that she's got a job, ask her to pay for dinner every once in awhile. If you can't test it by fire, then you don't have a novia, you've got either a hooker or a leach.

And each should be viewed accordingly.

She has paid for dinner numerous times. In addition, she has gone food shopping, come over and cooked delicious meals for me.

A friend of mine was married for six months to his second wife and it was her second marriage also.
At the divorce she got a half million dollars for being married 180 days.

That marriage cost him $2,777 per day or $19,444 per week. How many times a week do you think he got sex? I do not know but that was expensive gringa sex.

He likes to go to CR with me from time to time. I now know why.

I apologize if the "Grandpa" reference came off this way, but the tone of his post reminded me of this type of relationship.

Second, this is a discussion forum. We're having a discussion. If LV doesn't like the discussion, then he can lock the post-- or don't read the responses. My post was not a personal attack. I was commenting on the situation. And I think I made this clear. LVSteve is nothing more than a screenname to me, but at the same time-- I'm uncomfortable with his post because to me it sounds like he's deceiving himself about the nature of his relationship. And even though I don't know LV, it kind of pains me to hear about this. And I think it's better for him (okay, call me Grandpa) that I plant the seeds of possibility now, rather than listen to him get emotionally crushed in the future. (Alright, call me Grandma.)

No, it's not a bad deal... if you're looking for a hooker. Don't delude yourself. I have a big problem with guys deceiving themselves into thinking that they've got a girlfriend when all they've really got is a hooker.

If you think that your financial advantage is ALL you've got to offer, then you're suffering from low self-esteem.

Sure, every girl wants to be with a guy who is financially well-off and can hold a job. But remember: You're also a foreigner. You're exotic. And you're from a foreign land. You can expose her to things she's never known about before (without spending money). You have a lot more to offer than just "financial advantage."

But at the same time: Let's be realistic. Get away from the Gulch. Far away. (And the Beatle Bar doesn't count!). Here's my challenge to you: Befriend 10 girls from a non-low class backgrounds. Ask them what they think about 26 year-old girls dating 61 year-old fat guys?

Also, ask them to explain to you what a pola is.

I'm instigating this post as a reality check. Get a real girlfriend, or stop calling your semi-pro hooker, a novia.
