Just scratched Dunn Inn off from my list of future hotels. Oh well......plenty of other options!
Maybe they are just tired of making profits.

They must have had a real bad experience to make this change. The Presidente didn't go under when they quit accepting mongers hopefully the DI won't either. I was not happy for a long time about Presidente not wanting us anymore. I loved that place but I can't wish bad will on them anymore. It's their business and they have the right to run it how they wish.

I am just checking out. No more girls as of August 1st. I hear they had some issues in the past. The restaurant is really good however and seems pretty busy with locals.

Will the DI accept girls if they are a registered guest for the duration of your stay?

Wondering out loud...who will stay there, in that neighborhood (tranny central), if not mongers? Families with Ch*ldren? In those puny rooms..with no elevator? Maybe senior citizens catching the next tour bus to Monteverde or Arenal...

If there ever was a boutique monger hotel in SJ, Dunn Inn was it

I have never seen a Hotel in SJ that will not let u check in with a registered guest. Ur right DI area would be a horrible experience for a family.

Many of you seem to have an exaggerated idea of the number of mongers supporting the gulch.
In Nov. 2015 and April 2016 I stayed at the Dunn Inn and they had many more eco-tourists than mongers.
After what ever problem they had management must have decided not to bother any more.
BTW the Alma restaurant next door actively discouraged or refused service to hotel guests taking their "dates" there. And they are doing very well.

When? Under what circumstances? What's the criteria they use to discriminate...presence or absence of luggage

Maybe so. But I've stayed there before and now I won't.
