purse snatching
ebt card resale (go downtown and offer $125 for a $200 card and sell for $160 or save on groceries since you don' t need any ID to use one!)
uber driver
sell your hair
crack sales
loan shark
recycle copper people don't really need
run for office
walk dogs and/or babysitting
freeway off ramp begging (dress the part)
bake sales/lemonade stands (thc makes it more lucrative)
bend over

seriously the craigslist, feebay, coinstar, cutting back thoughts are great
keeping track of your miles even though that is much less lucrative now
some of the credit cards are ok but i don't use those
stay flexible on your dates and shop it early

And whatever you end up doing, figure out how much $ you're actually pulling in per hour worked. If it's less than minimum wage, you're probably better off getting an hourly part-time gig. A friend of mine who was in a lot of debt and spent every Saturday working at Home Depot (at $12/hr) for almost two years to make some extra cash.

Ok, here's one 1/2 of you won't agree with much less actually do (statistics prove it!!).

I had both knees scoped in the middle of May. I paid a deposit of $300 to each the hospital & Dr. Sawbones.
When it was all said & done & my INSCO discounted what they considered non eligible, I was left with 3 bills I had to pay:
Anesthesia: $187
Hospital: $1600 and change
Dr. SawBones: $1200 and change

I paid the Anesthesiologist the $187 because the INSCO killed him with deductions and I know they have to get paid something.

I called the Hospital & asked if I could walk in with 12 $100 bills cash...not a check....not a CC.....$1200 cash, pay them & have them discount the other $400 and change. They agreed! $400 + savings

I called Dr. SawBones & asked if I could walk in with 5 $100 bills cash...not a check....not a CC.....$500 cash, pay them & have them discount whatever they could & I would make payments over the next 3-4 months to pay off whatever they didn't discount. They agreed and wrote off $700+!!! $700 + savings.

So just by asking & paying cash, I saved $1100 + a little bit. All of my bills & accounts are at zero, everyone got paid what they agreed to & everyone is happy.

I know it is not the same as doing extra stuff to bring money in, but it's almost the same as I don't have to pay that $1100. That $1100 will get me my next flight, hotel for 3-4 might & at least a couple of sessions!

I prefaced this post with 1/2 of you will not do it because it is a proven fact that more than 1/2 of the patients whether it be medical, dental , vision...whatever, skip out on their bill after the procedure is performed & the INSCO has paid whatever they are going to pay. This ios why the guys in SJ get cash payments up front for dental work, no INSCO to deal with, no billing, no hoping to get paid!

Just a thought & I hope I have underestimated my mongering bretheren, I hope you are in the 50% that do pay your friendly neighboorhoob DDS & MD!!

Here's what I do:

1) Work Overtime. That is PURE money in the bank. And where I work, OT is almost $30 per hour, and work is easy. I find it harder to keep from day dreaming about visiting Latin America.

2) As much as I hate coupons, USE THEM. They save you money. Your savings convert to cash NOT spent.

3) I've bet on games before, in the long run, the outcome is "usually" not in your favor. There are exceptions. As I've encountered them too. If you win, take the money and run. Don't make a habit of it.

4) If you look at deductions on your utility bills, sometimes grants are given to the public to help reduce their overall responsibility. That's cash too. $1.50. Doesn't pay much, but it's money.

5) Credit card rebates. I don't use them, but others have.

6) Call up the cable company and bitch when there's an outtage. YOU ARE NOT supposed to pay for service disruptions. Every now and again, may be hard to convince, but if your services go out often you can reduce your cable bill.

7) KNOW how to work the system. For example, if your flight is delayed by 30 minutes, call up the Airline and they give you a $50 eVCHR. The longer the delay, the more the money. It may take some convincing, but I KNOW airlines pay for service disruptions. YOu may need a Supervisor for that one or an agent that gives a damn. Most front line agents don't give a shit. Occasionally, you'll get one that cares; I use to work at American Airlines. I KNOW THIS IS TRUE. I don't give a shit what a rep tells you. Call back if needed, but don't be a dick to the agent.

9) Join Airline skymile programs. They also have one for dining, and shopping. That way your miles are available each year, and don't expire.

10) Don't take American chicks on dates. Waste of time and money.

8) Most important. Pay yourself first.

Hilarious!!   Is it less expensive to take CR chicas on dates??? Not in my experience. Dating girls costs money (lots of it) no matter how you look at it. Great post Yosh. Thanks.

True, but the difference there is CR Chicas are guaranteed to put out, and a hell of alot more fun than their American female counterparts. American chicks want you to do this that and open the door for her. For simply a cheesy ass kiss on the cheek at the end of the night. After you spent $100 on dinner for two. It's ALWAYS a childish game with American chicks. All chicks, but at least most foreign women put out. Foreign chicks are still women, but better at being women than American chicks.

Save your money. Don't take American chicks on a date. GO dutch if you go out.

Here's a job in Costa Rica if you're living there and you get to work from home.

It would be interesting to know what they pay. I bet it is not enough to live on.

Factor in exchange rate risk, it may not be. Just depends. Are they paying you in dollars first then converting to Colones or straight colones at their local hourly rate?

Still not enough. Since most of the folks are retired on this board, it could serve as supplemental retirement income or something to do if bored, and you get to work from home. Get ya some while you're working.

If you speak perfect English, the top call center jobs for Amazon pay $1,200/month for 40 hour work weeks. That's $6.92 an hour. A lot of chicas would love to have that job. I think I would fix cell phones or sell real estate before I would work for a U.S. company's outsourced job in CR. Personally I hope I am in the position to daytrade when I am in retirement.
