This was 4 night trip and so far all has went well. The 3-day wardrobe has worked well, although I only brought one pair of slacks. Washing in the sink and drying with towel and hanger has sufficed. Rain showers are a daily occurance, but short. Have not been caught in the rain, yet.

I don't know if the one-bag technique would work for a 5-6 day trip.

I have noticed a lot of men wearing shorts. Shorts used to a real "no-no."

Why not stash clothes here? Either clothes you bring down or buy here.

I have clothes I leave at the lodge, so when I fly down everything fits in one carry on.

You just have to develop a local asset. I wouldn't leave anything valuable, but pants, shirts, toilet articles - stuff you can abandon.

Buy a cheap carry on, load it with stuff for a trip, then stash it.

And if you stay all inclusive at LA, it includes laundry.

Shorts used to be a no-no? I wore shorts and sandals(freshly manicured feet)with collard button up shirt exclusively for my 7 day Rookie Gultch adventure. I was never denied entry anywhere, including HDR and Taormina Casino. I was never turned down by any Ticas I approached and had plenty uninvited Ticas approach me. I wouldn't enjoy spending My Money on My Vacation anywhere the temp is 70F or above if I "had" to wear pants, socks and shoes! Grand Ma always said I was part Heathen, part Barbarian.

It used to be true that wearing shorts could debar you entry to a better class of restaurant and casino too especially at some expensive resorts. But the steady influx of gringos over the years who wander about in shorts have got the "natives" used to the idea that people wearing shorts are not necessarily bums and they might as well take their money.
Some of you may be old enough to remember that wearing jeans and a tee shirt could debar you from entry to many places till long haired , jeaned and tee shirted millionaires began to emerge in Silicon valley.

I believe in blending in with local populace. Language, customs, dress, manners....it is al part of the camoflage.

As for leaving stuff down here.....I am not a member of the "Costa Rica Sucks" club, but I did stay away for almost three years. My friends decided SJO had "jumped the shark," asked me to introduce them somewhereelse and we just kept going back there.

I'll write a trip report report and use it to sort out whether I would come back. I didn't have a bad trip, but I am not certain whether I want to repeat.

Good stuff, look forward to the report.

I too skip the shorts. It's a courtesy really, I'd feel terrible if I blinded someone with my lilly white legs.

These btw are awesome travel pants. Lightweight and very comfy. Sizing might be tricky for some.

If you see a guy on a plane wearing these and an "I see dumb people" t-shirt it's probably me.
