Hey Ciego, thanks for the definition on "honyock." Is that Yiddish?

other topics along the thread:

A number of the DR girls board at the Asia. If you're not expecting spanish, its not clear when they say where they are staying though. Pronounced as "AH-see-ah." If your girl is staying there, you can be sure that she would like your accomodations better.

Oswaldo will take care of you at the Holiday Inn. Give him a 5 spot every day, and there will be no questions asked (unless you have reserved the spot behind the bush).

El Ciego,

Good information on the Gran Via just two minor clarifications.

The hotel is very chica friendly there is no discretion required (although sure they would appreciate it).

The "convenience store" is actually a full fledged super mercado (admittedly a little small but normal by San Jose standards).

Have a friend in town and he is staying there. I was there on Friday and found it clean, friendly staff, convenient to everything and a good bargain

Hey, I resemble that remark...
I shall wear your label proudly in my sig. line ElCiego.
:P
Seems I recall dear ol' Granny using that term, calling us K*ds a bunch of "wild honyocks" not sure about the spelling though.

clueless, so I had to look it up:

Honyock was originally an ethnic slur that referred to immigrants to the United States and Canada who came from Central and Eastern Europe. It was later expaned to mean a rube or simpleton, its most common usage. Honyock first appeared in print in the late 19th century. It fell into disuse during the 1960s and 1970s. This term was often applied to people who were unwelcome among their family, friends and/or community.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honyock

now I know...

Good research Igo! I'd certainly never heard of the word. Was it in the dictionary, or do you have some sort of "origen of words" book?

thank you...

internet tip #43:

strange words? google them like this: honyock definition

BTW, I knew I should have picked a better stage name. I Got U Babe Too doesn't shorten too well. I am flying to CR tomorrow. Maybe I will be christened with a new name after I show my gratitude by buying the vets some drinks.

maybe I will try some cool spanish name that doesn't translate into jackass. any ideas...

It's funny. When I first used the term honyock here on CRT, I used it in terms of the meaning we had for the word as K*ds. I never realized that it was derrogatory toward any immigrants, nor that it meant "simpleton." Great research.

Gopher, you honyock...he quoted chapter and verse. Whaddaya mean, "Do you have a word origins book or somethin'....?"

 Now, THAT'S a honyock!

I'm not a veteran monger, nor do I play one on CRT...

Hotel Amon Plaza is a fine place to stay and less then two blocks from Zona Blue and New Fanatasy. Brought girls to the room at night and wasn't chrged a chica fee. Excellent breakfast, newly remodeld rooms, free internet access, late check-out, very quiet on the top floor, spa in the basement, excellent restaraunt with room service, and rooms around $ 70 a night. Only drwaback is you don't want to walk from there to the gulch at night. Lots of Transvestos in Morazan Park area, but heck a taxi ride is only 500 colones. They also have a casino and you can get a further discounted rate or even a free room if your a player. The hotel has a very European feel to it and I plan on staying there again.

Actually the Hotel Asia isn't that bad for an hour or so.

It's cheap....... 3500 col if you only bring one girl..... 5500 col for two.

They have a vinyl matress cover covered by clean sheet and two clean, albeit well worn, towels.

The floor and walls are tile and seem quite clean.

It's perfect for taking a NYB girl for a quick one

anyone ever use the suites at the Del Rey, I'm considering it for a 10 day stay. The main attraction for me is the Balcony.

AFAIK the only two rooms with balconies are 701 and 801, 701 is a standard room and 801 a Jr Suite.

Its been a long time since I've stayed there, so I could be wrong, but I'm almost sure there are also 3 rooms on the 6th floor with balconies. They are the "deluxe" rooms, which I think rent for 90 per night now. Nice big rooms. Our Admin update on the new Prez rooms indicated some of the newly opened rooms also have balconies.

I would consider lining up my first 2-3 nights, then go around & investigate once there. Quite likely you can find a discount for a full week when negotiating in person.

Koppite was referring to the Presidente before the old section was updated, not the Del Rey. The Presidente does now have some rooms with new mini-balconies (in addtion to 701 and 801). And yes the Del Rey does have deluxe rooms with balconies that you share with others on the floor (planters separate the areas).

If you stay there, look at your bill closely. My amigo and I had extra charges for mini-bar and long distance calls that we didn't use or make, the management reluctantly removed those charges from my bill. However when my AEX bill came due there was a $30 extra charge on the bill. I went back to the hotel in person. They said the charge came from the casino, I left messages for Nixon but he has never gotten back to me.

I love casinos but I think I’ve lost the opportunity. I had been looking for the same offer. But now I’ve found my way of entrainment. I got online gambling site and anyone can go to this website to register and enjoy best gaming experiences with amazing winning prices.
