Hey guys, how awful are the cheapest rooms at del rey? If your only goal is to bed as many chicas as your budget can handle, will rey's infamous room quality matter? Also, how do they keep count of who you bring upstairs? Does security keep a vigilant eye on all their guests? Never been there , so any and all Intel is appreciated.

The rooms at the Del Rey aren't "awful"...think a cheap Motel 6 type room and you'll be about right. The Rey keeps up with guests by having security stationed at the only two elevators that take you to guest floors. All girls going up must register with security at the security station just to the south of the main check-in desk. There is no taking anyone but registered guests up to the rooms. Even your male friends aren't allowed upstairs if they aren't registered guests.

However, once you add in the guest fees they charge per girl, you can often do better and get much nicer rooms at SL, Amistad or Zona2.

Gotcha! I thought zona2 only had huge suites for 2+ people; do they also have standard rooms with just one single bed? I couldn't find any such rooms at their website.

What the Rey has is convenience. Rooms are generic and older. If all you want to do is bang, stay there, otherwise check the Sportsman"s where the chicas still want cien but a nicer place and better food.

I will say though that I have had very good assistance from the staff at HDR, once being sick, once leaving $700 in my room, and once screwing up my reservation 2 days before Halloween.

I have been up to friends rooms many times, other than smiling at the security guard I have never been asked if I was a registered guest.

Only girls, not guys, need to be "blessed" by security to get into the rooms at HDR.

The elevator that is next to the bar does not have a security in front of it ...you could in fact take a girl up to your room without being checked ....the girl however would not let that happen as I would think it would result in them being banned..the other side ..near the atm is 100% with someone station there with the front desk on the watch as well ....

I have never stayed at the HDR before so since I was arriving late 10pm I decided to give them a try. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised with my room at the Del Rey. I was in room 403 with a window facing the Key Largo. The room was clean and nice for $65. I like the carpet vs tile. It was a little larger than the comparable(in price)Dunn Inn room. I would not hesitate to stay there again although Sportmans is nicer and I like the vibe at SL better. I thought about using the elevator without security but my chicas demanded we go to "other" elevator which costs 5900 colones per chica. The maids were great and I had a pleasant 2 night stay.

Possibly, but when I last checked in, I was told by Carlos at the front desk that I could not take 'my friend' BB57 upstairs with me.

Perhaps, Carlos was referring to BB57's well known reputation as a male prostitute. Next time, when dealing with a professional sex worker, take the pay elevator

HDR has cameras everywhere....you are being taped the whole time.

Chicas know that if they sneak up either alone or with a gringo they are busted, probably for life. Their ability to work there is taken away. Why would they do it? To save a gringo ten bucks?

As to us going to a room without being a guest, its easy. Just walk to the elevator or stairs with purpose. No security will stop you, unless you are a well known non-guest expat like BB57, everyone knows he's not a guest there

Damn! Things are that bad at the Rey that you gotta pull BB57 for a session? Well the way things are going downhill there, I guess even BangBang can compete!
