I found this to be pretty handy in figuring out the arcane bus system in San José. Not all routes are on this ap, but many are.

Cool find. That is going to be very helpful. Too bad it does not have a rating system for how often they get held up though. I think the increase in robberies of buses was due to the Holidays but when I travel on the buses I make sure I do not take much more than what I am planning on spending and I do not take my passport with me.

For those who cannot read much Spanish , scroll down and choose the English translation.

The odds that you will be on any particular bus that will be robbed is remote. The odds that you are going to be on one of the routes that are often targeted for robbery are low indeed. If you worry about this sit in the middle away from the driver. It's mostly a robbery of the driver, not like honduras , Salvador, or Guatemala where everybody on the bushas to pay the tax. Just don't worry about it and use common sense. Or take a cab.

Downloaded the android app. Pretty neat. Question...

When it lists departure times, say (4:30 - 13:00 c/hr) I take the "c/hr" to mean every quarter (cuarto) hour. Is that correct?

Would be nice if they had costs but I'm not seeing it in the app.
