Ok, so I get chapped lips in the corners of my mouth from the cold air in Cartago and then in the Carolinas. No biggie.

Last week I get a 'pimple head' formed in the almost healed chapped areas. I pop it, drain it and clean it.

Last Friday night I was having major burning from my lip, and when I awoke, its the size of Spike Lee's lower lip, and about the same color. I freak and rush to the Urgent Care.

The Dr asks if I have ever been diagnosed with "herpes". I had Shingles 20 years ago. He says it never goes away. He orders 3 scripts for me (I also had conjunctivits in both eyes from the sick family members I visited in the Carolinas).

I go to collect the scripts (one eyedrops, one [edit] not antibiotic but an ANTI-VIRAL fuggin medicine!!![/edit], one tube of cream that costs $400). The cream isn't in stock and won't be available til Monday (remember it's Saturday). I tell them to cancel the cream, and research online an OTC anti-viral cream thats similar (for $20).

The [edit] not antibiotic but an ANTI-VIRAL fuggin medicine!!![/edit] does nadda. On Monday I go to my Dermo, he says immediately that it's no form of herpes, and no way a viral since the [edit] not antibiotic but an ANTI-VIRAL fuggin medicine!!![/edit] did nadda. It's a bacterial infection, and he can knock it out easily.

Yea me!

My ex-wife gets a call from Walgreens on Tuesday that my script for oral and genital herpes cream is ready for pickup!

WTF!!!!!

Ok, so they have her cell number on my acct (which dates back to when we were still married), but can you imagine the BS I am dealing with now!

Thanks for sharing, HIPAA!!!

There! changed the "antibiotic" word for ya!

Dang! If you were the sue-ing type , you would probably have a case here.

Just a FYI. Bacteria is covered/controlled/killed by antibiotics. Viruses are not. Your MD was either incorrect or you heard him wrong or he was just changing your AB Rx!

Valacyclovir - anti-viral. That's what the first guy hit me with. It did nadda.

I don't have a viral infection. I have a bacterial infection.

Not trying to be a smart ass here, but ABs do not work on a virus. Your 2nd guy should know this & the statement that it is not viral since the ABs don't work on it doesn't make sense. If he knocked out a bacterial infection, then it was because he changed your antibiotics.
Acyclovir is an antiviral drug. It is useless for bacterial infections. It slows the growth and spread of the herpes virus in the body. It will not cure herpes, but it can lessen the symptoms of the infection.

Anyway, hope you are felling better!

Jeez people ... forgive me for using the term "antibiotic" in a place where "anti-viral" is supposed to be. We all need to work on reading comprehension here.

I wasn't asking you to critique the doctor's advice or I would have been more specific as to the exact medicine and dosages given.

I was trying to draw attention to the fact that the pharmacy called my ex-wife and told her that I had herpes cream waiting to be picked up. Now, most would have found that a little funny, but I'm thinking that y'all didn't pick up on it.

So you forgot to remove the account 'ok' to call the ex's cell. That sucks.

But am I the only one seeing irony here... you come on the board and do a tell all about your chronic lip condition and the tube of I can't believe it's not really herpie cream.

I think the whole thing is hilarious, which I think is the point of the thread.

It would be even funnier if the ex knows about your CR trips to bang hookers. It could be a good "I told you that you would get herpes"...

Don't think I would worry about, I told you so. I would agree with her that I am a sexist pig. Think I'd send her a picture of myself sandwiched between two hot babes half her age and say you have been right all along. The difference is that now I'm a happy sexist pig.
