You may want to try Circus Cardboard. I have stayed there a couple times.

Or, you could ditch the cardboard box, roll BD style and crash on a bench in Morazan Park.  Just kidding man!

Seriously, check out Hotel Morazan or the New Mona Lisa (forgot what they call it now) as I've heard they have deals.

I know that the initial cost at hotel la amistad may seem high, but if you factor in cost of drinks and food, the all inclusive there is a good deal.

The cheapest option is Morazon. It's about $45-50/night. It's a 2 star hotel, that's being generous. It's a block from Del Rey.

The Asia and Paradise are short stay motels. You would not want to stay there longer than 1 hour. If you slept there overnight, you may be eaten by the insects by morning.

If you must stay at a flee bag hotel to afford to make the trip, maybe save your nickels a few more months and make the trip when you have a bigger budget.

I've been in the rooms at Hotel Paradise. They're reasonably clean; and not infested like the Hotel Asia.

I believe that Hotel Paradise is about $30 for all night. The rooms are on the 3rd and 4th floor. The 4th floor room is set back from the street, and quieter. Showers are in the rooms. The sheets and towels are clean.

Join CRT, you could have had a room at Sportsmens for about $59.00 a night in the clubhouse, not along the bar corridor, back in a quiet section

I'm going to disagree with your assessment of the Asia Hotel, Orange. You said not to stay there more than an hour. I'm going to suggest not staying there more than 1 minute....

The Freebird a 3 minute walk to the DR, First 3 nights $99 and $42 a night after the first 3 nights for the deluxe queen room. It is a very nice place ,seven large rooms and the owner Dennis is a helpful guy. I like it , I`ve stayed there many times. Check out it`s web site, the hotel is a CRT sponsor.

Beware of the community shower in the back rooms. Not worth the savings IMHO!!!

There are two very clean and modern full bathrooms on the first floor of the Freebird, potentially shared by five rooms (3-7) that are usually not all occupied at the same time. Never had an issue finding both bathrooms busy at the same time. Not sure what you are referring to re "the community shower." Room 3 is on the first floor near the two bathrooms, rooms four and five on the second floor, and rooms 6 & 7 on the third. Needless to say, particularly for those staying on the top floor, the long commute is the major issue!
I have stayed at the Freebird a dozen or so times over the last few years, always in one of the top floor rooms, and strongly feel the positives greatly outweigh this one "negative."

It is a great place to stay no doubt! Dennis is as nice a guy as I have met in the CR. What I am referring to is the climb down the stairs to use the bathroom, the fact that I have to walk down a flight of stairs (I didn't even know there was a third floor, I know, I know...oblivious to my surroundings) to shower, & the fact that no shower in the room meant no shower with the chica. My beverage of choice is beer & I have the smallest bladder in medical record history so after a night of beer drinking , I have to go to the bathroom 2-3 times. That is what I was referring to when I mentioned the community shower. The 2 front rooms have their own shower which will better suit my needs next stay! Sorry for any confusion, I wasn't trying to slam The FreeBird or Dennis!!

The more I read, the more I think the Sportsman's Lodge is the place I want to stay. Is there a chica fee? Also, regarding the Amistad, I see they have a discount rate of 25% for a week with a CRT membership. Does that also apply to the all inclusive deal, and are there chica fees there? Thanks to the guys in the know :).
