Well, the Ticos had the normal knee-jerk reaction to letting 5 Syrians traveling on stolen passports enter then exit their country. So yesterday, they began doing double checks on all travelers. The average wait was over THREE HOURS to enter the country. Every single face I saw exiting the airport was just PISSED. And can't blame them....you fly for 4 hours then they want you to stand in line for another 3-4 hours to enter the country? Pretty sad...

P.S. And no, there is no discount on the parking...cost me almost $10 yesterday

Hope that calms down soon otherwise people are going to stop going. Most won't be putting up with 3-4 hours to get out of the airport

WTF next! The CD thing goes down 1 month before my last trip.
Now this 2 months before my next flight. I'm arriving damn close to midnight as it is.

Dare I try to guess what brand of crazy will happen before my April trip?

Typical political correctness. Most people traveling with fake Syrian passports, aren't going to be coming FROM the U.S., to Costa Rica. It's like the TSA searching old women in wheelchairs, utterly ridiculous.

El AL airline is probably the safest to fly because they are so paranoid, for good reason. They constantly "test" their security people to look for flaws in their procedures.

One of the breaches they found during a "test" some years ago was an old woman who had a gun under the cushion of her wheelchair when flying to Israel from the U. S.

Any opinion on the best time to arrive? I usually arrive around noonish from Atl and deal with lines. My last trip I arrived on a Friday night at 9ish and only had 1 person ahead of me. Was that luck or is night always less traffic? How is late afternoon?

YESTERDAY !!! After 8" of snow today, yesterday would be the best time to arrive for me.
As it is, I will have to wait 3 weeks

I saw that on Caracol news the other night. But, I bet Costa Rica is under the gun of Uncle Sam to prevent something like that from happening again. I don't believe the average monger can hold on for 3 - 4 hours to get through immigration. :x Years ago, immigration used to be a snap when entering CR. During my last trip to CR, it took me nearly 45 minutes to get to the baggage claim area.

Yes, and it was a test. Simply look at who has actually perpetrated these types of crimes. There are no old women, although there have been a few young middle eastern women. And it is a pity that we must go through these searches at all, in some ways the terrorist have already achieved their goal. We are edging closer to becoming a police state.

Any updates on recent immigration processing times? I am arriving on Wednesday, and was hoping things might be a little closer to normal, like only 2 hours. Thanks for the info.

I wonder if other popular destinations, i.e. Panama, Medellin etc. are experiencing similar delays.
