Well said....I wonder if he even knew about this law? It is new and he's been coming down there forever. Tat's why I was thinking he should just throw offers at hem to hurry up and get out rather than sit out a lengthy investigative process in jail.

To answer your question: Yes, according to a very good friend of his, he knew all about the law. In fact, according to the friend, the two had just spent a couple of hours the very morning he was arrested discussing the possible ramifications (just as "they had done several times before."). According to the friend "he was unconcerned, unworried, almost cocky" that they would never do anything to him. The friend (who lives here) had tried several times to get him to curtail his activities, and his internet posting but CD would "not even discuss it".

On another note, as for the idea that this law was written pacifically for or because of him!! Not the case!!! At the time this law was first proposed and written he was not even coming here (he was going to DR). I personally know one of the people directly responsible for this law and I seriously doubt she had any idea of who CD or anyone else involved in the hobby is/was by name or personal reputation - except for me and she does not know much at all of my "other life" nor my handle on here. Yes she knew I "played with putas" (her words) and she "read me the riot-act" many times; even threatened me and jumped on chicas who she saw visiting me. She accused more than one that was not even in the business of being "putas"!!. We were neighbors at the time and it got so bad I had to move.

Wow, a real crusader   That is pretty bad you had to move because of a chismosa in your pueblo, haha. We all know an MDE expat who had his handle outed and a lot of "friend" ostracized him.

Over the last 11 years I have only had a few beers with Cuba Dave and like most smart visitors I like to keep a low profile (especially in the last 5 years), but always was a good conversation and I thought was just an OK guy. Trust him, no, in fact I don't trust anyone down there as far as I can spit. Didn't know him as others on this board did and I can only speak for myself.

What really bothers me is the Costa Rican Government and plenty of other places around the world are total hypocrites and know exactly what's going on in their own countries/cities and do nothing about it. Cuba Dave was singled out by someone on the inside who takes care of the right officials to get him and his business out of the way. It's the old rat coke dealer who tips off the cops about another dealer to take out any competition and the govt. (AKA police, customs etc..) gets to show their faces in the papers doing a fine job.

Is anyone naïve enough to think, Del Rey and every MP, hotel that caters to us and clubs aren't paying the govt. in some way shape or form to keep their sex trade businesses from being shut down on some bullsh*t health code violation, or building code violation or some minor bullsh*t violation if they refused to pay up?

Look around USA cities or open a phone book in a major city and look under entertainment. In my city there are 80 pages of *******, MP's all over the city, guys handing out ******* and Escort services cards all over the strip, Craigslist ads in the 100's and 1,000 of ways to P4P. Strip clubs everywhere where the right amount gets you anything you want right in the club. Contrary to what most believe, in the city of Las Vegas (Clark County) prostitution is illegal.

Does my city or any other city do anything about it ....... HELL NO IT'S REVENUE AND CASH IN POLITICAL POCKETS!!! Do they make an example of someone every now and then? Sure they do when that person is not paying the people that pull the purse strings.

Do I think Cuba Daves' arrest is BULLSH*T? Sure I do and the person(s) who set him up know exactly who they are.

I am also sure now there will never be another website or person ever that opens a blogsite, website or writes a book or magazine promoting sex tourism because Cuba Dave, a real nobody on the world scale, was arrested (Sarcasm and Bullsh*t). What a joke!!!

My guess says it was delayed like everything else in Costa Rica, delays are common place. Hell CR is the only place I know, where you can call the court on your court day in the morning, less than 2 hours before your court time, and get a continuance with no regard to the other parties or the courts time.

Yes, and due to the influx pf people moving into the city, they replace them twice a year.

All that "prostitution stuff" in Las Vegas is just a big scam, as prostitution in legal in some little counties in Nevada, visitors think is legal here in the city and seeing all that "advertisement" around the city reinforces their perception and fall in the trap, what are going to do when they don't get what they expected, call the police?

Yes, you can get laid in Vegas but it won't be cheap, if it were, do you thing I would get on a plane for 7 hours to get a good piece of pu*sy? No way!!!

It is always good to be prudent and lay low when in CR, or any other country for that matter. Like you nobody ealse really knows how this saga will end. However, it has been 2 1/2 months since CD was arrested and nobody else has reported any problems since then. This seems to be issue confined to CD. The title of thread is will this be an example? I think it clearly is.

+1 There are fewer TRs these days, but none indicate anything has changed so far as entering or leaving CR.

My last trip was not more than a month following CD's detainment. I had some second thoughts, but my entry and exit (CR and US) turned out to be non events.

I think the vast, vast, vast, majority of us have no concerns or cautions beyond what existed before this novella.

The only thing I noticed when going through immigration when leaving SJO last week was the guard patted me down several times. I think this was related to the downing of the Metrojet in the Sinai.
