Is it just BCR that is limiting ATM withdrawals to $100/day? Are the other banks' ATM policies still normal?
Things may have changed, but two weeks ago BCR had a limit of $100 per transaction, not per day. I did a back-to-back withdrawal for a total of 100,000 colones. I don't know if I could have withdrawn more, I never tried.

I can't be sure, but it seems like BCR has a limit of $100 per transaction AND ALSO a limit of 2 transactions per day.

After 2 withdrawals for $100 each on the same day at 2 different, nearby machines, I was denied a third transaction for any amount at 2 other machines.

My daily limit with my bank for my card is much more than $200.

The park nearest HDR is Parque Morazan . There is no bank next to Parque Morazan.

The bank that is closest to HDR and closest to Parque Morazan is a Bank of Costa Rica (BCR) branch that is directly across Avenida 1 from The Morazan hotel ...... and one block down Avenida 1 from HDR. It is on the corner of Avenida 1 and Calle 7, one block away from Parque Morazan.

That branch of BCR has 2 ATM machines. I use those machines often. BCR does not impose any fee for using a non BCR card at their ATMs .

I believe the place with the three ATM's you are referring to is the INS building.

Correct. I was not there and could not remember if it was the ins building. Thanks

I use several ATM machines at BCR branches around SJ and Jaco. I have a "chip" card from the Schwab bank.

Some of the BCR machines do not like the chip in my card. The message is that the machine can't recognize the chip.

I go to the machine next to the "problem machine" , and the card works well. I go back to the "problem machine" later the same day, or on another day, and the card works well.

Go figure.

My card has never been refused at non-BCR machines.

Despite the reports here I had issues getting $ at ATM's earlier this week. I tried all 3 at the INS building and the max they would let me get was 25k Colones...$50.00. Any higher amount I attempted the transaction was immediately cancelled. The only place I was able to find where I could get 150k was the ATM at the back of the Colonial Casino.

Scotia Bank ATMs don't seem to have the low limits that BCR machines have. I have no trouble getting 100 Mil ($200) there.

There is a Scotia Bank ATM in the Mas x Menos (Walmart) grocery store near the HDR.
