Supporting a missionary? It's still my favorite position. That's where I get the most support.

Some of these people (missionaries) are very sincere and honest....but their agenda can be somewhat not so honest. Missionaries that come to CR are not generally your "do-good" type of people. Yes...they may do good but their agenda is to save the lost. Preach the gospel. Any concession to the laws of the land, etc. tend to be a bit dishonest.

I know the drill. Been there done that. Any charity work they do is far far secondary to their "spiritual" mission...to have the lost come to Christ. Sorry for being so blunt. I know lots of them personally, and was one myself. They do not support in any way what "we" do or what we think.

Previous poster was actually right. You probably do more by paying these single mothers for sex than they would ever get from missionaries....as far as meeting their real needs. Not saying that prostitution is the ideal...but In some places there is no real alternative. I don't like that...but that is the reality. So be kind and generous when you think this is the case. Sure, I'm all for keeping a lid on the cien thing and all of that....but seriously...if you are supporting a woman and Ch*ldren by paying whatever it is don't get too hung up on $80 versus $100 dollars. Better to say I'll pay $60 and give you $40 for a gift for your K*ds maybe...but nothing wrong with it with the right candidate.

I don't care if someone makes a living helping other people (re Steven). But that is not what these people are out to do. Missionaries are out to convert other people to their way of thinking. There is a big difference. This is the last group on earth that should be donating to that particular brand of bullshit.
