I've been lusting after the 3rd gen moto g myself, though I'm waiting for the model XT1548, it is both CDMA and GSM, should work on Verizon in the US and GSM everywhere else.

I use a BLU Studio Energy (which was $143 from Amazon the new Studio Energy X and Studio Energy 2 replace it). I got my SIM from https://www.costaricacellularconnection.com/.

They set me up with a US 800 number - I forward my Verizon number to the 800 number and it rings on my BLU while I'm here working in the Barra del Colorado.

The Studio Energy battery lasts almost 2 days even with heavy use.

I have bought 3 of these phones. I use one for myself, I gave one as a gift, and the other is for a spare or for another gift. I would buy more if I wanted to. I paid just under $50 each, including shipping, on Amazon.com.

This phone works well. It is my first "smart phone." It seems to have a good, fast Android operating system. I also use it as a WIFI hotspot for my laptop. I pay Movistar in Costa Rica 9,000 ($18) for one month's worth of pretty fast WIFI (3 GB limit). So, I have access to the internet in my pocket.

I found two weakness with this phone that are easy for me to deal with.

1. The battery life is not too good. With light to moderate use, the battery will not last a full day. I bought a spare battery for $10 to keep in my pocket during any long days. A wall charger for the spare battery cost me $3. Both on Amazon.com. So I can begin my day with 2 fully charged batteries.

2. The camera and flash are not too good....... especially out of daylight. I don't take too many pictures, so this isn't much of a problem with me.

I owned one of the Studio 5.0 E models. It was a complete piece of garbage. The camera required spotlights to see anything, and the touchscreen was slightly off to the left. I paid $90, and finally just gave it away.

I suppose the higher models might be better, but I discovered the Kata M2, and it's the best phone I have ever owned.

I first bought the Blu Junior and that was crap. Now I have the Blu Advance 4.0 and I have used it all over this world and works great except the flash on the camera is not the best. I'm not a picture guy so no problem.

I make calls from Thailand with no problem back to the states along with many more countries. I've had it for maybe two years now and no complaints for a phone I use about 4 to 5 weeks out of the year on my international trips.

I am typing this out on a Blu Studio C 5+5. It's most definitely not as nice as my iPhone but for something at its price point it is Good Enough.

I'm debating whether to swap it for a Motorola Moto E but meh whatever it's kind of a nitpick
