I noticed an article the other day concerning water shortages. Apparently this shortage is forecasted to effect San Jose causing people to be without water between 6 to 12 hours a day. Hopefully the weather man is wrong.

The article is about San Jose Costa Rica, not San Jose California.

J21, he mentions CA b/c that has been the norm there for awhile and obviously spreading worldwide. I have said this elsewhere, "the world's most precious and most diminishing resource is not oil, it's water." Will soon be a huge problem and in our lifetime. Hopefully, they figure how to desalt/purify ocean water. They are even floating the idea of piping snow to reservoirs.

Navy can do it, but until it becomes necessary, the gov't won't invest.

Israel has been doing it for decades...today it gets about 25% of its potable water from the ocean via desalination.

Never been to San Jose. I was wondering if anyone recalls a water shortage in the past. Seems like the article is saying there could be no water. Which one would imagine no showers / toilets. Any stories - or all hype?

Same with Cayman Islands although I am now unaware of what % of housing even has piping running to it to get water; Cisterns and catchment water are still very much in use. Of course given the plane flies over the island 2x/3x per week spraying for mosquitoes one has to decide if one really wants to even drink cistern water....rain water from God.....; Ok, they're no pesky (and disease ridden) mosquitoes, but the poison that is killing them coats the roof of the cistern. Soon as the rains come that poison is in your cistern. Wonderful situation which forces me to ask again for the thirsty in San Jose:

Can't you just go buy some Perrier? :P :P :P :P  8) :!: :?:

Perrier, of course. I suppose the disadvantaged could go ahead and use San Pellegrino, however.
