Maybe you two IT/Internet experts can help me. I use IPVanish from Colombia for all my computers and devices. When I go to Youtube, I am on the Youtube NL site while IPVanish is activated. Is my computer being hi-jacked to Holland?

Youtube thinks you are in Holland because the IP of the server you selected (IPVanish) is located there. Next time you connect to IPVanish, manually select a USA based server and you will get the USA version of YouTube.

That s what I don t understand. The server I select is in Miami.

That is weird. Try this, start IPVanish and then run a IP trace. The trace will give you the ISP that your vpn is connected to. It should give you a Miami ISP. IF not I have no idea what's happening.

Steven1, you make this statement:

However, the tools and secrets that lie within the device are what make it ever so functional.

And then you make this statement:

But I DO know "....how it works...". 8)

Does that mean you are the maker of the device, or are the "secrets" not so secret?

Champ, ToR is no longer safe to use. Freedom Hosting was taken down by a joint operation headed by the FBI. They have admitted to using the network to track usage and who knows what else.

Stay off of ToR for anything really nefarious, unless you know what you are doing with it. If you do not have privately controlled entry nodes, you're being tracked.

I completely agree. I stay away from anything illegal. Other than that it works well for hiding my IP and using it in the capacity I need it for. Based on some of the posts in this thread seems it would suit the purpose of others.

I appreciate the heads up on the nodes.
