Hello Friends
Has anyone stayed at Dunn Inn recently? I booked a studio room thru expedia for 57$ a night plus expedia offered a 25$ OFF coupon. Any suggestions or tips on room preference at the Dunn Inn? This will be my first stay at this hotel. I choose the Dunn Inn to try something new and the price was right. LA is great but the train gets the best of me and also I end of eating way to much with the all inclusive. I like trying other places to eat and walk around, so thought Dunn Inn was a decent choice.

Plus I like the fact I will be close to Theo's bar, Zona II, Alcazar, Mona Lisa.

If you have good news or bad news about the Dunn Inn, Please share.

1--Do they have hot water?

2--Do they have air conditioner?

3--Do they have room safes?

This has been my hotel of choice for my last 3 trips. All the people working there are great. Had some water leakage from the A/C on my last trip, called the front desk and they were right on it. Rooms were clean and they will call ur room prior to letting ur chica leave to ensure all is ok. Have not tried the new restaurant yet, while there in March they were just transitioning to a new operator (and I believe with a new menu). Sure others can chime in on the new menu and restaurant. You should have a good stay, pending a reopening of the Castillo, will probably rebook at the Dunn. If you want a pick up at the airport, just email or call the office (toll free) and Rigo will pick you up at the airport/drop-off. Believe its 30.00 for pick-up and drop-off. He will also transport u to Jaco, but the price is comparable to what others charge if I'm not mistaken.

Didn't know they have studio rooms. The standards are tiny. Their deluxe are better. Great helpful staff.

Ask for a room that doesn't face the street because it could get noisy during rush hour.

Avoid the rooms next to the stairs or you'll be hearing "clicky-clack clicky-clack" all night. The window in these rooms faces the stairs....chica's in high-heals, leaving their 1 hr date, rushing back to the Rey.

You will have a great time...Dunn Inn is really nice.

The restaurant was one of my favorites...but like some have said, the menu and ownership (of the restaurant) changed...hope it's still good...

My last visit I headed to 'Ricks', only to find that it now seems to be more 'pub-fare' than a restaurant. :(

Stay away from the Dunn Inn if possible. The restaurant has changed hands and is no longer called Rick's. There were bugs in the place and the service was subpar. You can see my other review the last day they ripped me off hundred dollars by stating that the blanket was stained. I would recommend anywhere but the Dunn Inn. I've been to Costa Rica 10 times and stayed at the Freebird, sportmens, Del Rey, Zona Two. I would stick with the above mentioned with the exception of the Delray and the Dunn Inn.

Im sorry to hear this negative stuff about the DI. It was always my favorite place. Nice people, good location, great rooms. Things go south pretty fast here, which is why this forum is important so we can inform each other on changes.

Back in the day when either Boyd Burton or Guy Grand were working there we would get a response on CRT to these complaints. I doubt we will get one from the current ownership/management. Bummer! Regarding the bug issue, when I used to stay at the Dunn Inn I always stayed at the new section when completed because I had a bad experience in one of the old rooms with roaches. never found bugs in the new rooms but they possibly have overrun the place by now if they have not used proper exterminator maintenance.

The last time I was there they still had good lunch specials. Nothing special for dinners.I had another post mentioning that Rick's has changed hands. I had talked to the new owner who owns another restaurant in SJO and it was supposed to be called "Alma" with a change in menu and new sings. This was supposed to be all done by last December. Go figure.

I stayed at Dunn this past week. For 57$ a night, the place is great. I like the location mostly.

The Good
1---very close to the bars I enjoy
2---good safe in room
3---good maid service
4---they provide you with a laminate copy of your passport
5---free breakfest/coffee
6---I enjoyed the bar., craft beer from Costa Rica on tap
7---hot water in shower, plenty of towels

the bad
1---my room had non AC
2---road noise

This is an economical hotel. You get what you pay for

I have stayed at their sister property in Jaco (Hotel 9) many times and yes they also laminate a copy of your passport, a very nice touch although for the very retentive types maybe a copy of the page with your visa stamp as well

Tell us more about the Hotel 9. Is it near the town? Decent price? Good place to take a chica for a couple of days?

Thanks
