I was just there Danny let me inside to check out the remodeling. He said it was going to reopen in a month but from what I saw it didn't look close to being done looked closer to 3 or 4 more months. It will have most of same staff. There will be a new resteraunt. I don't know about prices.

this project has been a smoke and mirrors story since the beginning...from what I hear it may never open, poor management and lack of $

Just like the free bus to jaco....never existed

Hotel La Amistad would like to announce that effective May 1st, the free transfer to Jaco is only offered to all-inclusive guests who stay for a minimum of four nights.

Other guests that are less than four nights have the option to pay $37.50 round trip. Leaving Hotel Amistad at 10 am and Leaving Jaco at 12 PM.

Regards
Matt
.

I think we can count on Matt to be good to his word unless hell freezes over ------ which it sometimes does in CR.

I know a LA guest who got a free ride to Jaco IN A TAXI BY HIMSELF because it wasn't cost effective for Matt to run the bus or a van for only one guest.

Don't you have anything better to do than question the integrity of a business? Unless you have the real facts, why submit innuendos on another person's business efforts? I think the owners of LA and now Castillo have been very upfront about their efforts. You have a great deal of experience in CR, so you should know that construction projects never go as planned in this country. Too many on this board are quick to pick on the efforts of the business owners that contribute to our enjoyment when we visit. I have spent a lot of time at HDR (not my style, but enjoyable for many), LA (I like the experience, the people involved and the great food), Zona II (Jimmy does it right. Always a great time) and SL (Bill will do everything possible for his customers, and this attitude flows right on down to his employees).

All,
If anyone on this board has particulars about establishments, then let people know. But, because this board is anonymous, people are too quick to provide innuendos, rumors and misstatements, because they do not have to back them up.

I also have to disagree with your unsubstantiated assessment of this property and project. I have been staying at La Amistad for about 5 years and I find it to be well run, or managed, and a good place to stay. The rooms are nice and the service is excellent. How would you know how much money Matt or his partners or investors have?

You have to give credit to Matt for trying to be a good venue for those of us in the hobby. He has added the all inclusive and the Jaco transportation for those that want to avail themselves of that. I like to eat at different restaurants and do not drink much so the all inclusive does not work for me, however, many of the people that stay at the La Amistad do like it and participate in it.

I look forward to Matt, and his partners, completing the project and will definitely give it a try when he re-opens the Castillo.

It never ceases to amaze me of the asshats that rush to the defense of these hotel owners when these owners of hotels can defend themselves. Guy's rush to gush their love of so and so of this and that hotel, what do they think? they will get a welcome drink or free upgrade?.....these owners are not doing it for the love of you buttcheese, they are doing it because of COLONES. They are ripping your dumb ass off with high drink prices and high room rates. Initially we all came to CR because it was cheap,...now it is not and all these players are sucking your wallet dry.
Chilimike has been offering down to earth reviews for quite a while, you sir, suck.
You managed to suck the cocks of the the hotel owners where you like to stay I guess. And your final paragraph in which you admonish everyone, as if you are some authority, in how we all as adults should address businesses, really irked me.....Frankly asshat......F*ck off.

I have to take complete exception to the tone and content of your post. I think that you are little jaded and you need to have a couple of those overpriced drinks, you mentioned, and relax. Just because someone is in a business for a profit does not make them a thief or rip off artist. What are they supposed to do sell drinks, food and rooms at a loss? Do you work or run a business for free?

How much money should we be charged for a room?

How much money should we be charged for a drink?

How much is to much?

Speaking just for myself I did not come to the CR because it was cheap, I came to have a good time and I did. That is why I have been coming back for almost 10 years. If I wanted to save money I would stay home. There less expensive places to play such as the DR which in my opinion is a good option also.

ChiliMike, and apparently you , tend to be more frugal, or cheap, than some of the others, TEHO or as MR. Black would say "You do the CR your way and I'll do the CR my way".

When you guys book a room here in USA, do you make a point to "get to know them", "suck their C*ck", like asshats do here? No. You take a room and go your way.
It really gets me how these guys post in defense of the guys that are ripping them off.
The Mona Lisa, which is offering a fair price for a good room in Central America at $40.00 , that's a good deal
