I was happy enough for a while to go to the del rey because there was always at least 1 girl that suited my tastes. And I only go once a week, if that. Despite the hassles of having to fend off dozens of women that you could not pay me to be with it was still (barely) worth it. Besides, I was too lazy to look for a new place. But I can't delay that any longer.

Now that I've been there a dozen times or so, there just isn't anything left. The same 2 or 3 hot women are there, but I've been there, done that.

And the rest of the crowd just seems to get worse every time.

Saturdays are a ghost town, so I decided to try a Friday. Lots more people, but mostly guys. I think guys easily outnumbered women 2 to 1 last night. And the guy to hot girl ratio was about 100 to 1. Not sure, but I'd say the vast majority were ticos, including a group from the bandidos mc of CR.

KL was better, better atmosphere, some music, lighting, only had to put up with the horrible dj.

But still not much in the way of talent, and at least 3 guys to every girl.

I finally saw one that looked interesting, and within a minute she was taken. I didn't even have time to get off my bar stool.

The bartenders are friendly and are the best thing about the place. Still, the best bartender rates a 7 I'd say. Other guys might rate them higher, but they are not my types. I would, but not my first choice.

Out of sheer desperation I approached a girl I have been with before, and she refused to come off her cien price, so of course I walked away, I really wasn't that interested anyway.

So I think that's it for the DR for me, for a while anyway. I'll start going to some other places, as they can't be any worse. Taxi driver told me the hot girls are either at nightclubs like Tango India or whatever it's called, or of course in jaco.

I'm overdue for a beach trip I guess. And I need to start trying the small town mp's . A guy I spoke to at DR told me that's where he spends 90% of his time now. Women aren't spoiled in those places (yet). He just came by to see if the rey had improved, but as he told me, it's the worst he's ever seen it. Too bad. Hope it's just a phase.

In March I had a taxi driver hand me a card for Tango India, which I posted in the VIP section. The card has a name and phone number handwritten on it, possibly the name of the cabbie. I wonder if they are paying cabbies for promotion.

If you haven't been to Monicas yet, try it out. There is usually a selection of young, unjaded girls there.

Robert will not let DR girls work there, even though some have wanted to. Look on Craigslist for pictures of girls at Monicas.

I'm sure taxi drivers get a cut, no question. But this particular guy was an old boy, didn't suggest we go there, he was more interested in mourning his losses at the casino.

Thanks RAC, I'll check it out. I actually really enjoy a half decent massage, but I'm normally busy most days (hence the need for a massage). Any of the places open later?

I confess I have only been to Zona II once, for a few minutes (a kind CRT guy was showing me around). Maybe I need to check out some of those regular places too. I've been too lazy. But in my defence I have had a ton of work related stuff going on lately, so by the time I'm ready to go out, I'm exhausted already.

Avoid Tango India, unless you want to spend $300 or $400 for a 'good time'

yeah I have heard of Tango before and figured it would be expensive. Can't be worth it.

Sometimes I just like to go and look around at a place like that, but I imagine the entry fee is crazy.

I'm gonna have to get creative I think.

But I'm going to be away from CR for a few weeks so it'll all have to wait, unfortunately.

I been going to delrey over 10 years, ,, yeah it sounds like you are sour of the place but never have I ever seen 2 to 1 guy over girls on a friday 1 to 100 on guys to hot girls come on ,,, really . I have a trip in 3 weeks and my bet I wont see what you did last night,,,, I have a wing staying at the rey this weekend and his reports are he is finding good action and is having his usual good time.

For someone who is posting how the rey sucks your knowledge of the mongering scene in san jose sounds very limited at best, as I have posted many times in our hobby, ,,, good things happen to those who wait...I will be in the rey on friday May 15th,,,, I welcome you to come to rey after 10:30 and l will get the first beer..the place to be is the top bar and wait for the fun and crazy girls to make the move on us key is ...wait for the show

well I didn't do a count, but I'd stand by my estimate of 2 to 1 guys Friday night. 100 to 1 is an exaggeration of course, but I think most people get my point.

Yup, my experience in SJ is very limited, too limited, to the HDR, that was really my point.

I'm sure some guys find the women at HDR amazing. I was looking around in dismay one night when a guy near me said, 'have you ever seen so many beautiful women in one place?' I could barely come up with a reply. I'm not judging, just saying my standards seem to be a lot different than the average HDR weekend guest. I suppose if you are on a short visit it can be fun. But living here it gets old very quickly.

Guess I am spoiled after having lived a few years in Colombia (before it was famous), Peru and Argentina. I live here now so I'm not bashing the place, but there's simply no comparison between CR and other places in LA. Or it could be that I just haven't discovered the right places for me yet. I did think Jaco was great, as good as anywhere I've been, maybe even including Brazil, but I haven't been able to get there enough due to work.

BTW, you and I met (if you're Mike) at La Amistad last year, when I first arrived. I'd meet you for a drink for sure, but will be out of the country in May and most of June. Next time though.

Friday Saturday and Sunday
San Jose was like a ghost town. I heard there was a fishing tourney so that might have taken the local talent. SL, KL and DR were super slow. There's always a few girls but seemingly gone are the days of the past when you could walk in there at anytime and have numerous hot women all around you. Lots of older and fat women and paunchy girls who's bodies have been destroyed by K*ds. If looks isnt a big deal or if a bargain is important, you could easily find girls for an hour or so for 50.00! Overall, I think I'll spend most of my next trip in Jaco, it just seems to be the way the DR used to be 10 years ago or more.

I think the one thing we all agree on is that Jaco is the place to be these days.

Just returned from a week at The Mona Lisa. It seems there were always a few possibilities in the evening some decent some just average. The real surprise though the place was packed on Thursday night almost all night with some decent talent and good numbers. There was nothing special going on but there was definitely a party atmosphere. The ML seems to be heading in the right direction though it has been a fairly slow journey it appears they are coming of age so to speak. Bottom line though not the big numbers like the Del Rey there were pretty much possibilities available for most of the week.
