[quote="Dr.Mario"]Bro,

Depending on your age. There are all kinds of spots literally walking distance from the gulch. Barrio California has a whole street of bars. In Barrio Escalante there are some brew pubs and spots to hang out. All over Avenida Central there are spots you can stop in and just chill out. If you wanna be around college chicks you can hit Calle Armargura, which is by UCR. In Escazu there is a place called Fandangos if you like to dance to latino music.

Your problem is that this board is indeed used for what it is intended. So a lot of info you get will be pointed. :roll: I just mentioned various areas within a 2k colones ride from the gulch(with the exception to Escazu) that there are lots of people. Just kind of depends on your age or at least your mental age. 8)

I agree, concur, y estoy de acuerdo.

But I am developing a small bald spot from scratching my head. Why ask a bunch of monger where you can meet non hookers. Why sugar coat it and ask about " non-pros"?

All women at pros just depends on when they decide to charge you!

But the advice you got, with the exception of the Dr. Is from a bunch of fools that could not get a date with lefty unless they knew BB's negotiating tactics to reduced BBBJ proves in a 24/7 MP!

Long and short, if you want to get laid and not pay for it, #1 speak the local language, if not stop by your local atm and withdraw a few hundred bucks and ask for " help with directions" from the most attractive woman you find in the Walmart produce section.

After all, if you cold get lad back home you would not be on this board or on this country in the gulch, correct?

I'm guessing that Golfer will say "moneymaking opportunities."

I am too lazy and self-centered, I would rather rent than purchase. Plus I get bored after a week or two and want something new.

Are you referring to the statuesque, deep voiced, svelte figures standing in the corners beckoning male passersby??!

Canes, you are getting some good info on this thread. I second what Dr. Mario said and the mention of the Jazz Café in San Pedro. I go there a lot, and have met many locals there, professoras from University of Costa Rica, etc. There is a second Jazz Café in Escazu. The music varies at both, not all jazz, but some really good musicians. Also, a short cab ride from the gulch is a place called El Pueblo. It has a number of different clubs. Another night spot is the Bar Castro. They have a lounge type bar with a disco upstairs...goes all night. Check out Mac's American Bar in Sabana Sur. Again, a few minutes taxi from the gulch. Some gringos, but a mix, with lots of young local professionals. Mac's has "comfort food" for some of us; try the meat loaf and mashed potatoes. Have you been to Chubbs restaurant and bar, one block from the HDR? Lots of locals in there at night, mostly a younger crowd. You really need to work on that language quotient if you are serious about getting to know locals. Good food, too; try the sea bass.

If you are looking for non-pro, stay out of the gulch, because there are no non-pros there.

There are tons of clubs and discos in and around San Jose to meet non pros. Don't go there dressed like a gringo on vacation. Expect loud music and to have to work for it a little bit.

If you're over 40, and/or not Latin why waste your time? The vast majority of non working girls know us older gringos and usually younger ones are here for one reason, working girls, and they won't touch us with a 10 foot pole, exception being if you're some type of Latin male speaking excellent Spanish and looking suave as they say.

I lived here for 2 years and spoke broken Spanish but I picked up waitresses, workers in bakeries, bartenders, workers in AM PM, even picked up one girl I met on the bus, none of them were working girls and only one asked for colones for her time with me, and that was after sexo and she gave me a sob story about having been robbed, obviously bs but she delivered hot GFE so why not? I tipped her $50 and saw her a few more times, well worth it....but that's living here, having tons of time and having known most of the girls I picked up...

On vacation, why waste time? what do you have, 4 days to a week?? Get all the cheap hot poontang you can get and write about the experiences here on CRT and plan your next trip the day you get home.... :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

I agree if you are on vacation, then mainstream doesn't make a lot of sense... unless you plan on coming back or staying long term. When I moved to CR, that is when I began plucking young tail out of the normal clubs. Its kind of like shooting fish in a barrel. You don't need a ton of Spanish. Many of them speak English.
