This may not be in the right section but I was wondering what avenues you would suggest as far as meeting latinas online to maybe get to know each other before ones first trip down there....Afew years ago I met quite a few on Quepasa and did a lot of webcamming with them but I never got to go meet any of them, then I got into a relationship here in the states and left the chicas alone for a few years. Now Im back and have none of my contacts that I used to have...Any social networking or singles sites you recommend now? Thanks......

Do you speak Spanish at all. If you do you will not need the advance contacts as you will have your hands full. Also if you can dance salsa, cumbia or bachata you will be irresistible. I started taking dance lessons about 3 years ago in the states and even though the style is different than what they dance in costa rica the flow is the same so you adjust pretty quickly and the girls are more than happy to come over and show you their way. The venues I would search first would be the Malls, Mall San Pedro, Mall Las Flores, Tres Rios Mall but you have to not be afraid to approach the girls working and ask them about things to do in the area then ask if they would like to go with you. Hit the clubs and not Key Largo but, Jazz Café, Castro's, Bar Vyrus, Club Dolce in Escazu (high end though) or any other place with people and loud music. I used to go into places alone where I was the only gringo in the place and I would not be afraid to approach a table of 6-15 people and ask a girl to dance. I would get some very funny looks and a lot of no's but usually one of the girls would dance with me, then when the others saw I could actually dance, they were taking turns and I was welcomed to the table. What was funny was that a lot of the times they would buy my drinks for me, and even though I was very uncomfortable at first, I ended up having a great time and just had to push myself out of my comfort zone. A few times I thought I was in over my head but by being respectful and humble and just being myself I would make friends pretty quickly.

Kudos to Ilv's assessment. I can't dance for shit nor speak Spanish (though I'm pretty good in Idiot-Spanglish now). I have been comfortable in Castro's (weekdays is local dancing, weekends is plain disco), and have been to Dulce's once, but felt very overwhelmed there due to my lack of preparation.

As for 'dating' web sites, I have meet several women through them, and though a few were working girls, most were just normal girls looking for a rescue. Very few speak English, and many are from the poorer side of the tracks (though sophisticated enough to access these websites).

Hey guys, thanks for the very informative responses...Ilv4play..........I do dance Salsa-Bachata y Merrengue somewhat..not great at it but good enough to not make a total idiot of myself. I plan on taking some more lessons here in the coming months to brush up a little. I speak very limited Spanish..I can understand it a lot better than I can speak. You hit the nail right on the head when you mentioned malls-discos-restaurants....Thats what I want is to get out a little and explore the city and surrounding areas a couple of days and maybe meet a regular girl to take to the hot springs for the day or something...I know it probably wont happen but its worth a try right?

I have made my reservations for 4 nights at La Amistad in the penthouse suite...6 nights at cocal in the junior suite and then 1 last night back at La Amistad...I hope Im not spending too many days in Jaco. Maybe I can take a couple of side trips out of there.....All thats left is to buy the airline ticket....Im thinking I might be able to use miles...we will see...

If you are comfortable moving with the music you will have not problems and the girls will come up to you and teach you as well. If you do hit the tico nightclubs you will see groups of people not necessarily boyfriend and girlfriends or spouses but just friends out together. When I would go up to these tables I would ask if any of the ladies would like to dance and not single out just one. Normally one would say yes at the urging of the others and then the fun begins. If you can hold your own you will be sweating in no time being handed off to the next girl that wants to dance. Most of what you will hear is Salsa, Merrengue with a little bit of cumbia.

We did a great ATV zip line tour down in Quepos which is about an hour from Jaco. The company name is La Selvita and we got them down to 125 per person for 3 of us. We road the ATV's up the river for about 45 minutes then had lunch, made our way over 14 zip lines and then road back to the office down the river. It was a great trip. Also if you do not mind the drive going over to Manuel Antonio is a fun time as well if you get bored in Jaco.

If you do take a girl let her know if she gets out of line you are putting her on a bus and she is going home. You will meet plenty of girls while you are in San Jose and you should have not problem finding one you get along with to take on the trip with you. Keep in mind though that there will be a lot of working girls at the Cocal and if you like to have variety bringing your own might not be the best option

WTF??? I just registered on this site and in my profile where it prompts you to enter the age range of girls you want to meet I entered 25 - 35. So far I've received over 50 "responses" (I'm assuming it's mostly spam or baloney but maybe I'm wrong) and EVERY single one has been from a woman that's over 50 years old. Even got one from a 72 year old. What am I missing here?

Right now I just have the basic free membership which doesn't get me very much. Does anyone have a paid membership and if so is it a Gold or Platinum membership and how has that worked out for you?

I purchased a 4-month platinum membership 8 years ago against my better judgment. I did it on a lark, and did not expect much. I was sure I pissed away $50. In spite of my initial skepticism, I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I met a number of quality women in Costa Rica, Colombia and Peru through the website. this site doesn't. Many of the photos are poor quality, and you need to make contact to get them to send better ones. I've never run into the whole 'fake' person thing, but I did meet some 'i need money' sharks along the way. Easy to ignore them.

Also, I have a local CR number that I use with whatsapp. Once it is regestered with whatsapp, the phone receives messages even if it is using a different sim. So the people never know your us numbers. And you can always throw away your CR sim if the number gets loaded with sharks.
